On April 11, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, met with Scott Dewar, Australian Ambassador to China, and the delegation in Chengdu.

Huang Qiang welcomed Ambassador Scott Dewar to Sichuan early in his tenure and provided a concise overview of the province's development. He said that in recent years, Sichuan and Australia have laid a solid foundation for cooperation. The regions exhibit strong economic, trade and investment complementarity, and share a highly aligned understanding of livable, low-carbon and eco-friendly practices, indicating a broad prospect for collaboration. It is hoped to work together with Your Excellency the Ambassador to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and deepen and expand the friendly provincial-state relationship. We expect to promote two-way investments between businesses in both sides, vigorously enhance cooperation in clean energy, increase imports of Australian agricultural, pastoral, wine and other products, and facilitate the entry of Sichuan products such as baijiu into the Australian market. We are ready to deepen cooperation in education, science and technology, and cultural tourism, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and capitalize on hosting the Australian Open Asia-Pacific Wildcard Play-off in Chengdu to broaden sports collaboration. Sichuan welcomes friends from Australia to participate in the World Games Chengdu 2025. Together, we will promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two places to yield practical progress annually.

Scott Dewar expressed his appreciation and congratulations on Sichuan's development achievements. He said that the development opportunities in Sichuan are highly anticipated. We expect to reinforce our cooperation with a specific focus on sectors such as clean energy, further deepen collaboration in areas including specialized agriculture and animal husbandry, food and beverage, and architectural design, work to increase direct flights, broaden exchanges and cooperation in education, sports and arts, thereby fostering the consistent growth of our friendly relations.
