On the morning of March 29, Meishan City held a ceremony for the inauguration of Meishan Eastern New City and the signing of project agreements, marking the official establishment of Meishan Eastern New City after several months of preparation.

　　Meishan Eastern New City covers a planned area of 397.2 square kilometers, with its downtown located in Guiping Town, Renshou County, Meishan. Adjacent to Chengdu Eastern New Area and only 12 kilometers away from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, the area boasts obvious regional advantages and convenient transportation. The lines that pass through the area include Chengdu-Zigong-Luzhou Expressway, Suining-Ziyang-Meishan Expressway, Chengdu Third Ring Expressway, Chengdu-Yibin Expressway, Tianfu New Area Ring Fast Track, the southern extension line of Zizhou Avenue, Jintang-Jianyang-Huanglongxi Fast Road, and Jintang-Jianyang-Renshou Fast Road.

　　Meishan Eastern New City will focus on developing such sectors as the new economy, advanced manufacturing, modern logistics, science, education, culture and tourism, and move faster to become Meishan's eastward development pioneering area, an open international airport city, a modern industry innovation city, a livable park city, and strive to turn into Meishan's eastern smart manufacturing link for its integration with Chengdu and an international trade services portal for the airport.

　　At the ceremony, Meishan Eastern New City signed agreements on a batch of key projects, such as Baoneng Science & Technology City, the Digital Economy Industrial Park, and China Sciences Tianfu Green Manufacturing Innovation Research Institute.
