On March 18, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, inspected the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), to visit researchers on behalf of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and People's Government of Sichuan Province. He stressed that UESTC should study and implement the important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping on scientific and technological innovation, uphold self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, keep in mind the original mission of cultivating more excellent students for a strong national defense and industry, take advantage of its superiority over other counterparts to serve the national major strategies, and try to realize more original and valuable achievements in critical technologies to win glory for the country and to make greater contributions to economic development and scientific and technological innovation and development in national defense.

　　Huang Qiang visited the Information and Quantum Labs, State Key Laboratory of Electronic Thin Films and Integrated Devices and National Key Laboratory of Communication Anti-interference Technology of UESTC. He carefully checked the relevant devices, systems and facilities and had a detailed understanding of relevant research technology principles, research and development progress, applications and next development plans. He praised the innovative achievements made by UESTC research teams and encouraged them to carry forward the spirit of love for the motherland, selfless dedication, self-reliance, hard struggle, strong coordination, the pursuit of new heights, and focus on and stick to strengthening fundamental research and research on advanced and cutting-edge technologies, so as to hold a leading position in scientific research.

　　Huang Qiang stressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping has placed innovation at the core of the country's overall development and raised technological innovation to an unprecedented level. Therefore, scientific and technological workers should do something and will be more promising. UESTC should find out the root cause and put forward valuable countermeasures by strengthening international comparative research in key and core technologies, keep its national leading role in vigorously promoting independent innovation and enhancing capacities for original innovation, work hard to cultivate more excellent students for national defense and economic development, and play a pivotal role in making breakthroughs in key areas and core technologies, carrying forward assiduous study and fostering a sound environment for scientific and technological innovation. Departments at all levels should create a sound innovation ecosystem, provide a strong service guarantee for scientific and technological innovation, increase support for research and development of quantum Internet and other technologies, incorporate relevant work into the overall construction of Tianfu Laboratory, build platforms and integrate resources as soon as possible, introduce key tech enterprises for cooperation with universities, and explore a more flexible way for multi-party cooperation to better take advantage of universities in scientific research, so as to achieve innovation-led high-quality development in Sichuan.
