Made-in-Sichuan Vehicles Exported Steadily
Updated:2020.09.17

Through "one enterprise, one policy" strategy, Chengdu Customs provides customs clearance guarantee for key vehicle manufacturers. From January to August, Sichuan had exported 26,000 vehicles (including complete sets of spare parts), an increase of 25.9% over the same period last year.

On September 10, a batch of spare parts of 96 Peugeot 4008 and 5008 finished vehicles produced by Chengdu plant of Wuhan Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. was shipped to Vietnam at Qinzhou Port. Statistics show that since the all-round resumption of work and production in May, the plant has accumulatively imported parts worth 27.69 million yuan and exported 2,300 sets of vehicle parts to Vietnam and Malaysia, restoring the export volume to the level of the same period last year.

Based in Wuhan, Hubei, this company was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic at the beginning of this year, and its production and operation have been looking up since it resumed production in March. However, the continuous heavy rains in August once again put it in trouble. The gearboxes of Peugeot 4008 produced by Chengdu plant need to be imported from Japan, but the continuous heavy rains disrupted the shipping schedule of the Yangtze River branch line. The shipping ban was imposed at the Chongqing Port due to the exceptional flood peak, so the three batches of gearboxes could not be delivered as scheduled.

The Customs of Tianfu New Area, a subsidiary of Chengdu Customs, has formulated a customs clearance plan that is in line with the actual logistics of companies, and instructed them to switch from river transportation to road transportation. With such customs clearance modes as national customs clearance integration, customs transit, and advance declaration, it has fulfilled its commitment on "7×24 hours" customs clearance to further reduce the overall customs clearance time and ensure that the imported goods of enterprises are "released as soon as they arrive". Additionally, the customs has worked on speeding up the identification and handling of the packaging of dangerous accessories, and has coordinated the collective taxation as well as examination and release exempted from submitting letter of guarantee and depositing reserved postage. In this way, it helps enterprises reduce funds occupation and ease the pressure on working capital. With the concerted efforts of customs and enterprises, these parts were successfully delivered to the Chengdu plant and production was resumed at full capacity.

Since the beginning of this year, Chengdu Customs has, in accordance with the development features of Sichuan's automobile industry and the needs of enterprises, provided customs clearance guarantee for key vehicle manufacturers with the "one enterprise, one policy" to help them respond to the impact of the epidemic and stabilize automobile export. From January to August, Sichuan had exported 26,000 vehicles (including complete sets of spare parts), an increase of 25.9% over the same period last year, with a value of 6.22 billion yuan, an increase of 40.3%.
