Updated:2020.06.22

On June 18, the commencement ceremony of the supporting facility advancement work of the phase II project of the Western China International Expo City (Tianfu International Conference Center), a landmark project in Tinfu New Area, was held. According to the construction schedule, the center is now under decoration inside and will be completed and put into use by the end of 2020.

Located in the CBD of Tianfu New Area, Tianfu International Conference Center covers an area of about 165 mu (11 hectares), with a total investment of RMB 3.6 billion. It is constructed in line with the project positioning of "having the overall reception and service capacity for large-scale international business conferences and national affairs events, and reserving the hosting place for diplomatic activities hosted in China".

The project includes a large conference hall of around 10,000 square meters (capacity of 5,500 people), a large conference hall of approximately 5,500 square meters (capacity of 3,000 people), as well as 20-plus small and medium-sized conference venues, with a total area of about 8,000 square meters.

Once completed, the center will form the largest conference and exhibition complex in the central and western China integrating conference, exhibition, catering, hotel and business facilities together with the Western China International Expo City.

As per the design scheme of "Building A Quiet Horizontal Line--Eaves of Tianfu ", the strip-like Tianfu International Conference Center lies along the east side of Qinhuang Lake, forming a 430-meter horizontal super-scale space. Its landscape design is derived from Sichuan's landscape, such as the forest settlements in western Sichuan, Jinjiang River waterscape, Chengdu-style yard and Chengdu Bazi, integrating architecture into landscape. In terms of cultural expression, the center highlights Chengdu's regional cultural characteristics, explores Sichuan characteristics and Chengdu elements in Sichuan's history, makes the best of "Sanxingdui, Jiuzhaigou and giant panda" cultures, ancient Shu culture found at Jinsha site, ethnic cultures of Tibetan people, Qiang people and Yi people, Sichuan embroidery culture, bamboo culture, wood culture and hibiscus culture, and demonstrates the sense of technology and fashion of the profound Bashu culture in the form of "culture+technology".
