Recently, the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission approved of six cities building provincial innovative cities, including Zigong, Luzhou, Deyang, Suining, Neijiang and Yibin. It marks the construction of the first provincial innovative cities supported by provincial departments in Sichuan.

　　According the document, the construction of provincial innovative cities mainly focuses on eight aspects: the improvement of the talent management, evaluation, mobility and incentive mechanisms; the establishment of the technology innovation system for in-depth industry-university-research integration; the improvement of the development quality of Hi-Tech industrial development zones; the building of innovation and entrepreneurship carriers such as technological incubators and makerspaces; the acceleration of government function transformation and the improvement of governance capacity innovation; the promotion of regional innovation advantage complementarity; the exploration of innovative development path with its own characteristics for replicable experience.

　　The person in charge from the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province said that after two-year construction, the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission would organize relevant evaluations, and only cities passing the evaluations would be listed as provincial innovative cities.
