Chengdu to Host 7th International Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on October 17

  On September 10, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) held a press conference on the seventh International Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The festival will be held in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, from October 17 to 22, according to the MCT.

  It will be jointly organized by the MCT, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the National Commission of China for UNESCO, and jointly undertaken by Chengdu Municipal People's Government, Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, and the International Training Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO.

  With the theme of "Inheriting Colorful Culture and Creating Beautiful Life", the festival will feature three main activities including an art performance during the opening ceremony, an international forum on intangible cultural heritage, and an international intangible cultural heritage expo park, as well as other supporting activities. Participants from nearly 100 countries and regions will be invited to participate in colorful exchanges and mutual learning activities such as international forum, intangible cultural heritage performance, intangible cultural heritage exhibition and intangible cultural heritage competition.
