Regions along the five railways, includingthe Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway Sichuan section, the Xi’an-Chengdu passenger transport line Sichuan section, the Chengdu-Guizhou passenger transport lineChengdu-Leshan-Yibin section, the Chengdu-Dazhou EMU line, and the Chengdu-Dujiangyan Fast Railway, will carry out pilot environmental demonstration and control in12 citiesencompassing Chengdu, Mianyang, Nanchong, etc..

　　In February this year, the General Office of the Provincial Government issued the Work Plan for Environmental Management along Sichuan Railways, striving to improve the urban and rural environment along high-speed railways, trunk lines and feeder railways in cities (counties) section within the boundary of Sichuan through four years of comprehensive management to eradicatesafety hazards along these lines; by the end of 2022, the treatment rate of problems found would reached 100%, and the coverage of greeneries wouldbe over 95%, basically eliminating the dirty, chaotic, and poor environment along the railways, and making a fresh environment with beautiful landscape and little safety issues, so as to promote Sichuanas a beautiful city.

　　According to the Plan, Sichuan will adhere to the principle of "territorial management" and "ownership management" in treatment of environmental issues. The issues found within the red line aresubject to the treatment of China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd., within 100 meters of the urban area outside the red line and 500 meters in the rural area. The issues found within the territory belong to the jurisdiction of the local government. According to the implementation steps, pilot programs would be launched along the five lines, including the Sichuan section of the Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, in June this year, and the treatment task will be completed two years ahead of schedule.

　　There are 29 railway lines currently operating in Sichuan Province, passing through 19 cities (prefectures), 118 counties (cities, districts), and 666 townships (streets). The reporter learned from the meeting that on the basis of the preliminary investigation, going forward, Sichuan is to focus on hiddensafetyhazards, environmental sanitation, landscape improvement along the lines and formation of urban and rural architectural styles.
