The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China announced the plan to support the construction of 197 high-level vocational colleges & specialties with Chinese characteristics, of which eight colleges in Sichuan Province were selected. The reporter learned the news from the Education Department of Sichuan Province on October 28.

　　The eight colleges are: Sichuan Engineering Technical College, Chengdu Textile College, Chengdu Polytechnic, Chengdu Aeronautic Polytechnic, Sichuan College of Architectural Technology, Sichuan Vocational and Technical College of Communications, Chengdu Agricultural College, Sichuan Post and Telecommunication Vocational College.

　　In April this year, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance of the People' Republic of China jointly issued the Opinions on the Implementation of the Construction Plan of High-level Vocational Colleges & Specialties with Chinese Characteristics, proposing to concentrate on the construction of about 50 high-level vocational colleges and about 150 high-level specialty groups, and to build a high-level training platform for skilled personnel and a service platform for technical innovations. The plan proposed to take every five years as a support cycle and start the first round of construction in 2019. Taking 2022 and 2035 as the target years, high-level vocational colleges and specialty groups included will significantly improve their education level, service ability and international influence respectively, making vocational education an important force to support national strategies and local economic and social development.
