On July 3rd, “Wawu Cup” China International Sister Cities Youth Football Tournament was held in Meishan. 8 teams from sister cities of 7 countries including the UK, France, Israel, Morocco, Singapore, Thailand, and Uruguay, and 8 domestic teams will attend the tournament.

　　The tournament is organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government. It is learned that the tournament will last till July 7th. During the tournament, the team leaders and couches will organize an international football education seminar with the theme of “football promoting peace” and discuss how to develop football education for the youth and promoting peace and development through football. Football players will also participate into all kinds of cultural exchange activities, including visiting Qingshen International Bamboo Weaving Art City, Three-Su Shrine and watching water dance performance of Dongpo Urban Wetland Park.

　　During the tournament, Meishan will also sign understanding memorandums of friendly and cooperative relations with Harvey of Israel, Chiang Mai of Thailand, and Casablanca of Morocco to conduct in-depth exchanges in economy, education, technical cooperation and so on.

　　In recent years, Meishan has vigorously promoted the development of youth football and constructed 28 special football schools. On the same day, Meishan was conferred the title of “Youth Football International Exchange Base of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship”.

　　Mrs. Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairman of the 10th Session of The NPC Standing Committee and Director of China National Committee for The Wellbeing of The Youth, Mr. Liu Daoping, Vice Director of Sichuan Provincial NPC Standing Committee, and Mr. Zhu Hexin, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, also attended the opening ceremony.
