On the morning of May 27th, Initiation Construction Ceremony of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport was held in Jianyang.

　　Mr. Wang Dongming, General Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, attended the initiation construction ceremony and announced the official initiation of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Mr. Yin Li, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, presided over the initiation construction ceremony. Mr. Ke Zunping, chairman of Sichuan Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Liu Guozhong, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Mr. Shu Qingyou, Vice Political Commissar of Western China Battle Sector, Mr. Kang Weimin, Vice Commander of the Air Force in Western China Battle Sector, and so on, also attended the ceremony. National Development and Reform Commission and Civil Aviation Administration of China sent congratulation letters on the initiation ceremony.

　　On the initiation construction ceremony, Mr. Wang Dongming made an enthusiastic speech. On behalf of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, he extended warm congratulations on the construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and extended sincere gratitude towards relevant ministries, military parts and all sectors of society supporting the planning and construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.

　　Mr. Wang Dongming pointed out that constructing Chengdu Tianfu International Airport was a major and strategic decision of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on considering the comprehensive national development situation, promoting regional coordinating development, and enhancing comprehensive transportation system. After completion, Chengdu will become the third city in China with two international airports which will definitely further strengthen Chengdu’s status as national important aviation hub in China, further constructing rapid channels for Sichuan to integrate into global economy, and laying foundation of Sichuan’s strategic position in national opening and economy. It is an influential and pleasing event benefiting for now and for the future.

　　Mr. Wang Dongming confirmed the positive efforts of provincial departments and relevant units and companies of Chengdu and Ziyang for their preparatory work for the airport. He also proposed wishes and commands for the planning and construction of the airport. He stressed, firstly, they should enhance relevant plannings in accordance with high standards, adhere to global vision and the future, implement five development ideas, absorb actively advanced planning and design ideas from home and abroad, make sound planning for the main bodies, supporting projects and airport economic zone based on requirements of humanity airport, green airport, and smart airport, provide perfect plans for every project, and strive to achieve the top level in the world. Secondly, they should complete the construction with high standards, stick to quality priority, conduct the construction strictly based on regulations and procedures, vigorously pay attend to project quality, and construct the airport into an excellent project in China and first-class project in the world. Thirdly, they should strengthen supervision and management in accordance with high standards, enhance the whole process supervision of planning, design, and construction from discipline inspection, auditing, safe production and so on in order to make the whole project transparent and clean, improve safety construction management, avoid safety accidents with all efforts, and construct it into a safe project. Last, they should construct airport economic zone efficiently, accelerate to make relevant planning, optimize industrial layout, conduct investment promotion, and create airport economic zone into a new pole for driving Sichuan’s economy.

　　Mr. Wang Dongming also stressed the significance, influence, meaning and hardness of constructing Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Relevant provincial departments, parts from Chengdu, and units should enhance their responsibilities, construct the project with strict requirements and practical working style, and construct it fast and steadily.

　　As Mr. Wang Dongming’s announcement of the initiation construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, colorful smoke rose, all types Pfizer engineering vehicles and mechanical equipment honked at the same time, all people cheered and applauded.

　　Before the initiation ceremony, Mr. Wang Dongming, Mr. Yin Li, Mr. Ke Zunping, Mr. Shu Qingyou and other leaders heard the reports concerning the planning, comprehensive transportation planning, aviation industrial layout, supporting municipal projects of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. On the initiation construction ceremony, Mr. Pan Gangjun, General Manager of Sichuan Airport Company, introduced relevant planning and construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Mr. Tang Liangzhi, Mayor of Chengdu, and Mr. Chen Guilin, President of Huaxi Group, delivered an speech respectively and expressed their confidence and determination of constructing Chengdu Tianfu International Airport with joint efforts.

　　Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is located at Jianjia Town, Jianyang, about 50 km far away from the downtown of Chengdu. Its airport planning level is 4F, the highest level in the world, which could be used for landing and taking off for any kind of airplanes. Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is the largest civil transportation hub airport during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and the single project with the largest investment in Sichuan. It plans to construct 6 runways in order to meet the demands of annual throughput of 90 million. The investment volume for the first phase project amout to 71.86 billion yuan which will also drive investment for relevant projects of over 300 million yuan. It will construct two vertical runways and 1 lateral one with the separation distance of 2,400 meters, the widest in China. The designed annual passenger throughput will reach 40 million. The first phase, expected to be operated in 2020, will also construct terminals and airport economic zone.

　　Mr. Huang Xinchu, Mr. Wu Jingping, Mr. Wang Ning, Mr. Chen Guangzhi, Mr. Liu Jie, Mr. Gan Lin, and other provincial leaders, relevant responsible officials from National Development and Reform Commission and Civil Aviation Administration of China, also attended the initiation construction ceremony.
