On October 12th, the 9th China Bamboo Cultural Festival sponsored by State Forestry Administration, International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, and Sichuan Provincial People's Government was held at Qingshen, Meishan. Representatives from the member states of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, UNESCO, United Nations Environment Programme, International Union for Conservation of Nature, and 18 Chinese provinces (districts or cities) producing bamboo and guests from home and abroad were present at the festival.

　　China Bamboo Cultural Festival, initiated from 1997, is a national and international level bamboo event with the largest scale, highest level and widest influence. While the 9th China Bamboo Cultural Festival with the theme of “promoting bamboo culture, developing bamboo culture, and realizing Chinese dreams” will develop bamboo industrial achievement visiting, investment promotion and contract signing, international bamboo seminar and so on.

　　On the opening ceremony, Bamboo and Human Life Qingshen Announcement was also released. Meishan was awarded the title of national bamboo industrial innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration city and national advanced city in greening. On the investment promotion of bamboo culture and bamboo industries, Meishan promoted a total of 29 projects concerning primary industry, secondary industry, tertiary industry including bamboo furniture, bamboo packaging, bamboo lanterns, bamboo weaving products, heavy bamboo producing, international bamboo art tourism, raw material base construction and so on.

　　In recent years, Qingshen County has been won the title of hometown of China bamboo weaving arts, China Featured Bamboo County, National Demonstration County in Greening, the organization and training base of international Network for Bamboo and Rattan, export base for China bamboo weaving products, and protection base for national level intangible cultural production and so on. Qingshen bamboo weaving has been listed in the national level intangible cultural heritage lists, original authorized trademark and national geographical protection products.

　　Mr. Qumu Shiha, Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Director of Agriculture and Working Commission of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Mr. Wang Minghui, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, were also present at the ceremony.
