On April 1, 2014 Sichuan (Nanchong) and France Week of 5 days came to a perfect end. As one of the activities for celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and France, 2014 Sichuan (Nanchong) and France Week, co-organized by Sichuan Province and Champagne-Ardenne Region, France, has achieved plentiful rewards, such as the signing of 6 investment cooperation agreements, the sale volume of liquor on special product exhibition amounting to over 5 million yuan. But it was little known that the origin of this exchange is puppet. 

　　Charleville-Mezieres of Champagne-Ardenne Region is a well-known center for puppet arts in the world. In May 2012, Nanchong became a member of International Puppet Association by virtue of north Sichuan puppet, an intangible cultural heritage. The headquarters of this association is located in Charleville-Mezieres. By the end of May, 2012, Nanchong, as the theme venue of 21st International Puppet Association Conference and International Puppet Festival, attracted Mr. Bara, vice president of Champagne-Ardenne Region, who actively promoted Charleville-Mezieres and Nanchong to become sister cities.

　　As culture served as a link, Charleville-Mezieres and Nanchong had frequent exchanges. China and France Rimbaud Poem Society was held in Nanchong. Nanchong delegation also headed for Charleville-Mezieres to attend International Puppet Festival and International Puppet Sister Cities Conference. Moreover, these two cities also signed Agreement on Establishing Comprehensive and Friendly Cooperation Relation. 

　　Last year, Mr. Jean-Paul Bachy, government president of Champagne-Ardenne, visited Sichuan and hoped that Nanchong could hold “2014 Sichuan (Nanchong) and France Week” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and France. China Ministry of Foreign Affairs enlisted this activity into the framework of celebrating. 

　　Through opening up, a city could get known and bring more opportunities for economy and society.” Mr. Xiang Dong took a leading company in high-end pension industry as an example. This group is going to invest 180 million Euros (about 1.54 billion yuan) to construct high-end pension park and bring medical treatment and pension management into Nanchong. To enhance city marketing level, Nanchong will increase the training and reserve of foreign affairs personals and offer preferential policies for introduction of affairs personals.
