On April 15, a new Jetta was driven down from the production line of FAW-Volkswagen southwest base, becoming the 1000,000th finished automobile in this producing base.

　　FAW-Volkswagen southwest base was launched in 2009 and spent 5 years in achieving the goal of producing 1 million finished automobiles, while it took 12 years for FAW-Volkswagen to produce the same number of automobiles. The new record set by FAW-Volkswagen southwest base in finished automobile not only marks that this base has made new breakthroughs in production capacity, but also pour powerful vitality for Chengdu to build core economic growth pole in western China.

　　As a critical layout for FAW-Volkswagen in western China area, FAW-Volkswagen southwest base strictly adopts the best factory building standards and the most reasonable construction principles in German Volkswagen Group, and duplicates fully the successful experience in FAW-Volkswagen Changchun Second Automobile Manufacturing Factory and Audi all-digital assembly shop. Besides finished automobile factory, the base also has a matching Chengdu engine factory producing the first domestic EA211 engine which meets the European V emission standard. Outside the finished automobile factory, within 5 kilometers, there is an industrial park for producing accessories and a logistics park with an area of 3 million square meters. All these integrate the upstream and downstream industry chain. Complete industry chain layout offers steadfast support for the base.

　　In Chengdu Longquan District Economic and Technological Development Zone, besides FAW-Volkswagen, there are also a group of domestic and overseas finished automobile companies and famous accessories companies, such as Volvo Chengdu Company, Faway-Johnson, and so on. Thus a complete industry chain groups have been formed. Last year, Chengdu automobile industry enjoyed the leading position in growth with the increasing rate of 45.2%. Moreover, the all diameter revenue of automobile industry surpassed 120 billion yuan. The vehicle production of finished automobile reached 700,000, of which 500,000 were produced in FAW-Volkswagen southwest base.
