Reporters learned from the press conference for the 2026 World Power Battery Conference held by the Information Office of the People's Government of Sichuan Province on August 20 that the 2026 World Power Battery Conference will be held in Yibin from September 3 to 4, marking the fifth consecutive year that Yibin hosts the event.

Approved by the State Council and hosted by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, the World Power Battery Conference is China's only globally influential international conference for the power battery industry. The 2026 World Power Battery Conference is co-organized by the People's Government of Yibin Municipality, the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Sichuan Province, and the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Under the theme "Powering All, Integrating for Shared Growth", the conference comprises one opening plenary session, one general assembly, eight thematic sessions, alongside multiple outcome demonstration and exchange events.

Centering on industrial policies, cutting-edge technologies, innovative applications, new-energy storage and battery recycling, this year's conference will conduct in-depth dialogue on key technologies and industrial transformation. It will assess industrial development trends, share technical practice cases, and release outcomes including the "Power Battery Industry Development Index (2026)". Focusing on multi-scenario expansion of power batteries, the event will showcase benchmark demonstration scenarios covering zero-carbon parks, inspection and testing, energy storage, and artificial intelligence to vividly present innovative practices of cross-sector industrial integration. At the same time, the conference also focuses on international cooperation. Spain has been invited as the Guest Country of Honor. China-Spain industrial cooperation exchange activities, the launching ceremony for green supply-chain projects in the international battery sector and international thematic sessions will be held to deepen cross-border industrial collaboration through high-level international dialogue.

To date, nearly 600 distinguished guests have signalled their intention to attend the conference. The guests include senior officials from the Embassy of Spain in China, consular officials of various countries stationed in Sichuan and Chongqing, experts and scholars such as academicians from Chinese and foreign science and engineering academies, representatives of domestic and foreign research institutions and industry associations including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, as well as executives from leading enterprises at home and abroad such as Samsung SDI, Panasonic Corporation, China Changan Automobile Group, Chery Automobile, EVE Energy, and Sunwoda. More than 120 leading Chinese and foreign enterprises, including Tesla, CATL, and BYD, will present their cutting-edge products and technologies.

First launched in Sichuan in 2022, the World Power Battery Conference has been held successfully for four sessions. It has drawn participation from over 1,100 key enterprises and nearly 7,000 high-profile guests, with nearly 700 new technologies and products unveiled. It has become a benchmark industry gala and a platform for government-industry-academia-research-application exchanges and cooperation rooted in Yibin, anchored in Sichuan, expanding across China, and connecting the world in the power battery sector.
