President Xi Jinping held talks with you and reached important common understandings on accelerating the building of a more stable, prosperous and sustainable China-Thailand community with a shared future. Your Excellency Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's visit to China this time made Sichuan an important stop, and personally attended the Thailand-China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum 2026 as well as the Inauguration Ceremony of Thailand Board of Investment Chengdu, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu, which fully reflects your attention to and support for deepening exchanges and cooperation between Thailand and Sichuan, and will surely elevate the friendly and cooperative relations between the two sides to new heights. We will earnestly implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, carry forward the traditional friendship that "China and Thailand are as close as one family", further strengthen exchanges between Sichuan and Thailand as well as between both sides' local governments, build more platforms for pragmatic cooperation, continuously consolidate and expand bilateral trade exchanges, actively explore cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, clean energy and biotechnology, continue to enhance people-to-people exchanges and deepen mutual understanding, and contribute to the steady and long-term development of building a China-Thailand community with a shared future.
Anutin Charnvirakul spoke highly of the achievements Sichuan has made in economic and social development. He said that Thailand and China enjoy close friendship and extensive, in-depth mutually beneficial cooperation. Sichuan is an important province in western China, and its close exchanges and cooperation with Thailand have yielded remarkable results. The two sides share high development compatibility and strong complementarity in economy and trade, agriculture, science, education, tourism and other fields. He expressed willingness to promote the two sides to further consolidate and expand practical cooperation across various fields, continue to foster people-to-people bonds, and better achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development.

On the afternoon of July 18, the Thailand-China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum 2026 as well as the Inauguration Ceremony of Thailand Board of Investment Chengdu, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu were held in the city. Anutin Charnvirakul attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech; Shi Xiaolin was present and delivered a welcome address.
Anutin Charnvirakul expressed gratitude to China and Sichuan Province for the support in organizing this event. He said that he led a Thai delegation consisting of government officials and business representatives to visit Sichuan to further deepen cooperation with China, especially with Sichuan, across various fields. Boasting a long history, a large population, a huge economic aggregate and enormous development potential, Sichuan stands as one of China's key industrial centers and an important gateway and hub for western China's opening up to the outside world. Located at the heart of ASEAN, Thailand has well-developed infrastructure, abundant high-tech talents, a stable supply chain, and clean energy, which is favored by global investors. Thailand has rolled out and implemented policies to streamline approval procedures, boost the competitiveness of enterprises and labor forces, and stimulate domestic demand, which will bring better opportunities for all parties to invest and do business in Thailand. Thailand and Sichuan enjoy strong industrial complementarity, and bilateral economic and trade exchanges have maintained robust momentum in recent years. Taking the inauguration of Thailand Board of Investment Chengdu, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu as an opportunity, Thailand hopes to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Sichuan in various fields such as economy, trade and investment, and promote the continuous improvement of friendly relations between the two sides.
Shi Xiaolin noted that over 2,000 years ago, silk, porcelain and other goods from the land of Bashu traveled thousands of miles to the banks of the Chao Phraya River, leaving indelible marks of exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Thailand. In the new era, taking the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor as opportunities, the two sides have carried out all-round, high-level cooperation and established 11 pairs of friendly cooperative ties. Bilateral trade volume increased by 112.5 percent in 2025. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of China and Thailand, both sides will join hands to deepen cooperation in economy and trade, science and education, culture and tourism, among other fields, achieve great development through sharing the vast markets, advance the transformation and application of more scientific and technological achievements, vigorously promote mutual travel and cultural exchanges between Sichuan and Thailand, foster closer interactions between local governments and between the two peoples, jointly appreciate diverse civilizations where each shines with its unique charm and all thrive together, write a new chapter of two-way progress and win-win prospects, and contribute to the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future.
