On April 22 local time, the China (Sichuan) - Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia) Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Exchange Conference and other activities, hosted by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, were held in Düsseldorf, Germany. Both sides signed cooperation agreements covering multiple fields. Ren Jingdong, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, led the Sichuan delegation to attend the event, and visited Rainer Schmeltzer, First Vice-President of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, to enhance mutual visits between provinces and states, strengthen sister-city cooperation, and actively promote economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Leaders from over 70 German Fortune 500 companies and "hidden champions", including Siemens Energy, Henkel, RWE AG, Bayer, ALBA, Würth Group, etc., as well as from relevant institutions and well-known business associations attended the China (Sichuan) - Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia) Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Exchange Conference to advance cooperation in areas such as economic and trade promotion, financial services, green photovoltaic, biomedicine, and cross-border logistics. At the same time, to earnestly implement the China-Germany dialogue and cooperation mechanism on climate change and green transition, the "Sichuan Province - North Rhine-Westphalia Green and Low-Carbon Transition Cooperation Dialogue" event was also held on the same day, actively promoting green transition cooperation with North Rhine-Westphalia and injecting greater green momentum into the China-Germany all-round strategic partnership.
The Sichuan delegation also organized 16 Sichuan enterprises to participate in Hannover Messe 2026 in Germany. Among them, listed companies, national-level specialized and sophisticated "little giant" firms, and "hidden champions", including Reach Machinery, Reliance Electric, CRP Robot, Forward Technologies, and Ruien Optoelectronics, showcased the latest achievements of Sichuan's "smart" manufacturing in terms of scientific and technological innovation as well as green development.
In 2025, the trade volume between Sichuan and Germany reached 28.76 billion yuan, increasing by 11.5% year-on-year. Germany has become an important economic and trade cooperation partner as well as a source of investment for Sichuan in Europe. This economic and trade exchange event will further promote the cooperation between Sichuan and Germany to a new level.
After leaving Germany, Ren Jingdong also led the Sichuan delegation to visit the Maldives.
