On March 26, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, met with Bai Yong, President of COFCO Corporation, and his delegation in Chengdu. COFCO Corporation is a world-leading agri-business enterprise with a global footprint. It plays a key role in safeguarding national food security, serves as a major driver of the food industry, and is the organizer of the China Food &Drinks Fair. The two sides exchanged views and discussed priorities for cooperation. They focused on jointly fulfilling the mission of building a strategic base to ensure the supply of important primary products for national needs and a higher-level "Tianfu granary" in the new era. The two sides aim to expand cooperation in areas such as ecological agriculture, non-timber forest-based economy, and deep processing of agricultural products by leveraging Sichuan's strength as a major agricultural and consumer province and COFCO's global presence and full-industry-chain operations. They will also work together to enhance logistics hub functions, promote the integrated development of the "three networks" (transport corridor network, logistics network, and data network), and create new business models, scenarios, and spaces for consumption in the exhibition, exposition, and commercial sectors. Through these efforts, they seek to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes in better safeguarding national food security and advancing high-quality development in Sichuan.
