Joyful New Year: Sichuan's Culture-Tourism Market Shines in Its Annual Kick-off with Vibrant Momentum
Updated: 2026.01.06

During the 2026 New Year holiday, Sichuan's cultural and tourism market launched its annual opening with great success and got off to a strong start.

"Ringing in the New Year" emerged as the theme of the holiday period, with cultural and tourism consumption featuring personalized and experiential elements. Products such as "micro-vacations", "snow and ice tourism", and "cultural heritage and museum tours" were well-received by tourists. Carefully curated New Year's Eve events across Sichuan saw high public engagement. The "Chengdu, Light Up" light show at the twin towers in the Tianfu International Financial Centre attracted over 120,000 on-site participants, while the "Night Tour of the Jinjiang River" program launched its first-ever "New Year's Eve Cruise", creating a vibrant and festive holiday atmosphere.

The trend of culture-driven tourism was distinctly evident. The "Poetic New Year, Elegant Fun at the Su Shrine" event at the San Su Shrine Museum in Meishan brought history to life through cultural flash mobs, attracting crowds of visitors.

Ice-snow tourism emerged as a major highlight. Tianma Mountain National Forest Park in Bazhou District, Bazhong City, welcomed the first snowfall of the winter during the New Year holiday. Its snow-blanketed landscapes attracted numerous visitors to enjoy the snow scenery and have fun.

New consumption scenes kept emerging one after another. The Hejiangting Marriage Registration Office in Chengdu hosted the "Chengdu Nuptial Celebration • Destiny in Jinjiang" event, where a tech-savvy "Smart Blessing Messenger" robot added to the festive spirit. Meanwhile, a small street concert on Yulin West Road showcased the warmth of urban leisure life with its relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

During the New Year holiday, Sichuan's cultural and tourism market was brimming with dynamic events. These activities not only enriched the winter experience for residents and tourists but also effectively primed the market for the upcoming Spring Festival, continuously injecting momentum into Sichuan's winter tourism consumption.
