On September 3, the final 24.7-kilometer asphalt pavement was laid on the remaining section of the Jiuzhaigou-Mianyang Expressway (commonly known as "Jiumian Expressway"), marking the full completion of the project's main engineering work. The entire expressway is expected to open to traffic before the National Day holiday period.

The newly paved section, located between Pingwu and Muozuo in Mianyang City, traverses the convergence area of the Longmenshan and Huya fault zones. This geologically complex area presented extraordinary engineering challenges during construction. Confronting challenges including volatile high-altitude weather and limited construction windows, the project team maintained tight coordination. They have made every effort to ensure engineering progress through such methods as backward scheduling, increased resource allocation, and 24-hour shift rotations.

Since its inauguration, the Jiuzhaigou-Mianyang Expressway project has completed 131 bridges and 45 tunnels as part of its main infrastructure. Multiple sections—including Jiangyou, Pingwu, Baima, Jiuzhaigou, and Wanglang—have been progressively opened, bringing the total operational length to 220.3 kilometers. The project is now advancing comprehensive acceptance testing, with full completion expected by early September.

Functioning as a vital transportation artery connecting Jiuzhaigou, a premier tourism destination in northwest Sichuan, with Mianyang, the 245-kilometer Jiuzhaigou-Mianyang Expressway was constructed to dual four-lane highway standards with a design speed of 80 km/h. The project's bridge-tunnel ratio reaches 82.04 percent. Upon full completion, travel time between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou will be cut from eight hours to approximately four, significantly enhancing regional transportation efficiency. Meanwhile, the project will also end Jiuzhaigou County's long-standing lack of expressway access.
