The Golden Panda Awards Ceremony, the last major event of the second Golden Panda Awards, was held in Chengdu on the evening of September 13, and all winners were announced during the gala. Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, Zhang Zheng, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Tian Xiangli, Chairperson of the CPPCC Sichuan Provincial Committee, attended.
The ceremony kicked off with the lively and enthusiastic opening short film "Gathering at the Golden Panda" and the prologue "Welcome to the Beautiful Land of Sichuan". The jury of the 2nd Golden Panda Awards made a collective appearance. The current Golden Panda Awards conferred 27 prizes in total, spanning four categories—Film, TV Drama, Animation, and Documentary—plus Special Jury Awards.
In the Film category, "There's Still Tomorrow" emerged victorious from five nominated films to claim the Best Picture Award. Pema Tseden received Best Director for "Snow Leopard", while the writing team of "About Dry Grasses" was honored with Best Screenplay. Zhu Yilong and Denise Weinberg won Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role for their performances in "Only the River Flows" and "The Blue Trail", respectively. Jack Tan earned Best Actor in a Supporting Role for "Abang Adik", and Trine Dyrholm won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for "The Girl with the Needle". Additionally, Azamat Dulatov and Wan Pin Chu received Best Cinematography and Best Original Score, respectively.
In the TV Drama category, "She and Her Girls" received the Best TV Drama award. James Strong earned Best Director for "Mr. Bates VS The Post Office", while the writing team of "She and Her Girls" was honored with Best Screenplay. Francis Ng and Tang Yan won Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role for their performances in "Escape from the Trilateral Slopes" and "Blossoms Shanghai", respectively. Guo Xiaodong received Best Actor in a Supporting Role for "Romance in the Alley", and Sarah Greene won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for "Bad Sisters". The cinematography team of "The Crown Season 6" and the music composition team of "Ludwig" were awarded Best Cinematography and Best Original Score, respectively.
In the Documentary category, "A New Kind of Wilderness" received the Best Documentary award. Gao Song was honored as Best Director for "My Hometown Across the Ocean", while "Parents in the Wild-Mating Games and Birth Days" and "Memories of WWII" won Best Cinematography and Best Editing awards, respectively. In the Animation category, "Nezha 2" received the Best Animation award. "Tainá and the Amazon's Guardians" and "Chang An" were honored with Best Animated Image and Best Visual Effects awards, respectively.
As for the two Special Jury Awards, "Hotline Beijing" received The International Communication Award for Chinese Stories, while China Global Television Network (CGTN) was honored with The Special Contribution Award for International Communication.
The evening gala featured captivating cultural performances interspersed throughout the event, with Chinese and international artists presenting diverse programs including the songs "The Land of Splendor", "At the End of the Story", and "Back Then", the dance performances "Panda" and "Kung Fu Fighting", an ethnic costume show, the instrumental medley "Harmony in Diversity", and the theme song of Golden Panda Awards "Together". The ceremony also featured the launch and presentation of the "Our Panda" global short video and graphic collection and exhibition campaign.
The second Golden Panda Awards received 5,343 submissions from around the world, including 3,910 international entries accounting for 73.2 percent of the total. The competition attracted participants from 126 countries and regions—22 more than the inaugural edition.
