This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Recently, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Yu Lijun, Deputy Secretary and Head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, visited veteran soldiers and senior comrades who participated in the War of Resistance. They presented them with the medals commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, extending their highest respect and sincere greetings.

Zhang Yukun, 99, and Meng Xianhua, 98, are both veteran soldiers and senior comrades who participated in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Zhang Yukun joined the revolution in 1939. He served as a propagandist in the Combat Drama Society of the Youth Corps at the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army, actively participated in the production campaign in the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region, undertook the task of protecting the Party Central Committee, and was once selected as a model for learning. Meng Xianhua joined the troops in 1941. He was wounded twice in heroic battles against the Japanese invaders. During the War of Liberation, he fought in critical campaigns, such as the Huaihai Campaign and the Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign, and received merit citations several times. Wang Xiaohui visited the two elderly veterans at their homes, engaging in heartfelt conversations with them. He listened attentively as they recalled those remarkable years of joining the revolution and resisting Japanese aggression to serve the nation, while thoughtfully inquiring about their daily lives and physical well-being. Wang Xiaohui said that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Party Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission have made arrangements for the issuance of commemorative medals, fully reflecting the deep concern of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core for the veteran soldiers and senior comrades who participated in the War of Resistance. You made significant contributions to securing victory in the War of Resistance, striving for national independence and people's liberation. You devoted your lifelong efforts to the building of New China, particularly to Sichuan's reform and development. The Party and the people will never forget your outstanding meritorious service, Wang said. All departments and regions across the province must thoroughly implement policies supporting the military and preferential treatment for veterans, extend heartfelt care to veteran soldiers and senior comrades, promptly address their practical difficulties, ensure their well-being in later life, and make them consistently feel the warmth of the Party and the government. We must inherit and promote the great spirit of patriotism and the great spirit of the War of Resistance, vigorously publicize the heroic deeds and noble character of revolutionary martyrs, veteran soldiers, and senior comrades who participated in the War of Resistance, educate and guide the officials and people to carry forward the legacy of their predecessors, uphold revolutionary traditions, and remain committed to being enterprising and pursuing achievement. Shi Xiaolin visited 101-year-old senior comrade Liao Bokang at his home, conveying respect and greetings on behalf of the provincial Party committee and provincial government. She expressed gratitude for his active contributions to national independence and liberation, as well as Sichuan's construction and development, introduced the province's socioeconomic progress, and solicited his opinions and suggestions for improving Sichuan's work. She stated that the province will draw insights from the valuable experience of veteran soldiers and senior comrades, build upon the solid foundation they laid, steadfastly promote high-quality development in Sichuan to achieve new results consistently, and enable the people to lead more beautiful lives. Shi Xiaolin also visited the Caotang Branch of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital to see 102-year-old veteran soldier Chen Kaiyi, who is undergoing medical treatment. She conveyed the care and greetings of the Party and government, inquired about his health condition and daily life, learned about his extraordinary past experiences, and instructed relevant authorities to strictly implement preferential policies for veterans while providing wholehearted care for their later years. She emphasized drawing strength from the great spirit of the War of Resistance, inheriting and carrying forward the fine revolutionary traditions of the older generation, and better shouldering the responsibility of advancing the modernization of Sichuan.

Yu Lijun paid a home visit to Lou Tingzhu, a veteran soldier participating in the War of Resistance, carefully inspected his living conditions, engaged in a heartfelt conversation with him, and thoughtfully asked about his physical condition, family life, medical care and other situations. Yu Lijun stated that veteran soldiers of the War of Resistance are invaluable treasures of the Party and the country. The happy life we enjoy today was earned through their blood and sacrifices. We must always bear in mind the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, vigorously promote the great spirit of the War of Resistance, pass on the traditions of revolution, consolidate strength for forging ahead, and safeguard and develop our socialist country. We must provide service guarantees with utmost dedication and compassion, effectively implement preferential policies, resolve practical difficulties, and ensure they fully feel the warm care of the Party and the government.
