From August 8 to 10, The World Games (TWG) Plaza hosted three consecutive nights of vibrant themed events—"Boundless Sports: Ba-Shu Cultural Night", "Elegance in Motion: Heritage Celebration Night", and "Unleashed Vitality: Carnival Night"—attracting massive crowds of enthusiastic visitors each evening.
TWG Plaza is located at the square near Gate 2 of the International Horticultural Exhibition Park in Chengdu Eastern New Area. It has been developed as an integrated tour-shopping-recreation hub featuring sports exhibits, cultural experiences, and technological interactive programs. As the first themed night performance since the official launch of TWG Plaza, the "Ba-Shu Cultural Night" showcase blended diverse elements, including sports and traditional Chinese opera. Singer Wang Jiangyuan performed the TWG 2025 Chengdu promotional anthem "Summit", and artists from Suining City presented two cultural showcases: the acrobatic spectacle "Galloping Winds" and Sichuan opera "Highlights of Fulian Opera". The crowd erupted in applause when the visages of mascots Shubao and Jinzai made a surprise appearance during the face-changing (Bianlian) performance.
The "Heritage Celebration Night" featured Ya'an City's opening hip-hop dance "Rap Tour of Ya'an", its pulsating beats weaving through landscapes like Bifeng Gorge and Mengding Mountain. The mood then shifted with the ethereal dance "Dawale", transporting audiences to the foothills of mist-wrapped Jinding Mountain. The group dance "Giant Shadow Puppets" brilliantly synthesized northern Sichuan's intangible cultural heritage of shadow puppetry with dynamic choreography and exquisite costumes.
In the urban cultural exhibition area of TWG Plaza, the specially curated performances and exhibitions from cities (prefectures) are exceptionally popular with visitors. The rustic gravitas of Ya'an Yingjing County's black pottery captivated visitors, while Jiang'an bamboo carvings from Yibin channeled the essence of classical Chinese brushwork in their display. Nearby, Luzhou's oil-paper umbrella artisans demonstrated their craft in live workshops. In the cultural creative exhibition area, Bazhong City unveiled an exquisite 7-piece souvenir collection themed "Auspicious Guangwu Mountain", and numerous visitors made on-the-spot purchases of these specialty keepsakes.
A host of young visitors, accompanied by their parents, dove into hands-on activities in the sports experience zones, from casting and floorball to flying discs, creating heartwarming family bonding moments. In the demonstration zones for Muaythai, Aikido, and other sports, domestic and international visitors gained deeper insights into these unique athletic disciplines through live expert commentary and professional exhibitions.
The three-night "Athletes of the DAY for TWG 2025" award ceremonies featured an impressive lineup of TWG 2025 Chengdu champions: Riccardo Rancan, winner of the first gold medal of this 12th edition; Nina Holt, five-time gold winner in this edition; Lu Zhuoling, who claimed China's first gold medal at TWG 2025 Chengdu; Andrea Maya Becerra, the gold medalist in women's compound competition at the Archery event; Megan Kealy, women's tumbling gymnastics gold medalist; and the Dragon Boat Team Indonesia.
TWG Plaza will offer free admission to citizens and visitors from August 13 to 15 with daily opening at 12:00, and from August 16 onward at 10:00. Interactive activities will begin at 18:00.
