On May 8, the Sichuan Province Mobilization Conference for the 12th edition of The World Games was held in Chengdu. Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, chaired the conference. He emphasized that all levels of the province must deeply study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, effectively align their thoughts and actions with the CPC Central Committee's decisions and plans, earnestly act on the requirements for organizing a "streamlined, safe and splendid" games, maintain high standards and quality in all preparatory work, ensure unity and cooperation to successfully host The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, and once again present to the world a sporting event that meets international standards, reflects Chinese style, and embodies the charm of Bashu, thus leveraging this event as a window to showcase the myriad aspects of Chinese modernization.

Shi Xiaolin, Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province and President of the Organizing Committee of TWG 2025 Chengdu, made arrangements for the preparation work.

While chairing the conference, Wang Xiaohui pointed out that hosting TWG 2025 Chengdu is an important political task assigned to Sichuan by the CPC Central Committee, and it marks another large-scale international multi-sport event held in the western region of China, following the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, with robust guidance from relevant national ministries and commissions, the TWG organizing committee has effectively strengthened overall coordination; Chengdu has diligently fulfilled its primary responsibilities as the host city; all member units of the provincial promotion and coordination working group have delivered their duties; and relevant localities have collaborated closely. These concerted efforts have ensured solid and effective preparatory work, establishing a sound foundation for the event.

Wang Xiaohui noted that with slightly over 90 days remaining until the opening of TWG 2025 Chengdu, the preparatory work has reached a sprint phase marked by pressing timelines, substantial workloads, and exacting requirements. We should further solidify the key tasks in preparation for TWG, focus on a holistic approach that integrates event hosting, urban development, industrial prosperity, and people's benefits, adopt a problem-oriented approach to identifying and addressing gaps, effectively deliver the opening and closing ceremonies, torch relay, and other key tasks, meticulously organize the event and ensure service support, enhance market awareness to amplify the value of the event, strengthen public communication and publicity to create a vibrant atmosphere, and continuously raise the levels of internationalization, specialization and standardization. Work should be done to reinforce the bottom line of safety further, strengthen risk awareness, leverage the valuable experiences gained from organizing events such as the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, continually improve emergency plans in key areas, including fireworks displays, food safety, counter-terrorism, riot prevention, power supply reliability, disaster prevention and mitigation, deepen and refine security measures, and strive to establish a safety framework that ensures province-wide support for Chengdu and Chengdu's guarantee for the successful execution of the games. We should redouble efforts to implement the responsibility system in a down-to-earth manner. All regions and departments across the province must take action to fully incorporate the matters concerning TWG into the centralized coordination and dispatch initiatives of the provincial promotion and coordination working group, consciously align all work arrangements with the requirements for the smooth operation of the event, and endeavor to achieve unified command, rapid response, and effective execution. Chengdu, as the host city, must resolutely shoulder its principal responsibility. Relevant provincial departments should perform their respective roles. Other cities (prefectures) should consider supporting Chengdu in successfully hosting TWG as their due and obligatory responsibility. The entire province must unite its efforts to ensure the success of TWG 2025 Chengdu.

While making the work arrangements, Shi Xiaolin emphasized that hosting TWG represents both a major challenge and a significant opportunity. We must resolutely shoulder the political task entrusted by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, serve the overall national interests, and carry out all preparatory work with high standards, high quality, and high efficiency, ensure that TWG will be held in a streamlined, safe and splendid manner, and strive to submit a satisfactory report to the Party and the people.

Shi Xiaolin emphasized the importance of understanding the core requirements and firmly implementing the responsibility system with practical actions. We must consistently apply the important instructions issued by General Secretary Xi Jinping throughout the process, implement an efficient coordination mechanism across ministries, provinces and cities, and refine our command and dispatch system. By utilizing checklist management, visualized operations, and collaborative efforts, we aim to ensure that our work is executed at a high level, with distinct characteristics and substantial benefits. We must ensure the successful execution of major events, delivering both seamless operations and spectacular experiences. Work should be done to highlight cultural depth, embody the concept of "Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders", meticulously craft the creative ideas for the opening and closing ceremonies, orderly conduct the torch relay activities, meticulously prepare for rehearsals, live broadcasts and retransmissions, aiming for a streamlined event without compromising splendor. Together, we will better tell the stories of Chengdu, Sichuan and China. We must meticulously organize the games, ensuring professionalism, attention to detail, and a well-structured execution. We will maintain close coordination with the International World Games Association and strengthen communication with individual international federations to ensure the effective organization of the games. Additionally, we will accelerate the renovation and construction of venues, organize and conduct drills and tests, and improve the service and support plans with an athlete-centered approach. We must steadfastly uphold a bottom line of safety, making sure that there are absolutely no missteps. Efforts should be made to prepare for worst-case and extreme-case scenarios, thoroughly identify and mitigate potential hazards, and coordinate the efforts across event safety, cybersecurity, team safety, disaster prevention and mitigation, workplace safety, and public safety to develop a stable and orderly environment. We must strengthen public communication and guidance to amplify the positive impact of hosting the event. Efforts will be undertaken to release a series of high-quality promotional products, bring TWG programs into communities, business districts and schools, and foster a vibrant atmosphere showcasing our hospitality as the host and enthusiasm for TWG. We will vigorously develop the event economy, comprehensively drive the growth of industries such as sports and leisure, cultural tourism, entertainment consumption, and business exhibitions, and strive to elevate the quality of development, enhance our opening-up functions, and raise the level of cultural tourism.

During the conference, Chengdu City provided an update on the progress of the preparations for TWG and outlined the upcoming arrangements for the relevant work. The Provincial Bureau of Sport, the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the provincial Party committee, the Provincial Department of Public Security, the Department of Culture and Tourism, and Deyang City made exchange speeches.

The conference was held in the form of a teleconference, extending its reach to all cities (prefectures) within the province. Relevant provincial leaders, leading officials from the member units of the provincial promotion and coordination working group for TWG and the relevant provincial departments (units), persons in charge from some central units in Sichuan, provincial higher institutions, and state-owned enterprises supervised by provincial SASAC, responsible officials from Chengdu City, and volunteer representatives attended the conference at the main venue.
