On May 19, the 28th International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) Congress and 93rd Annual Meeting International Symposium opened in Chengdu, convening government officials, experts and scholars from the field of dams and reservoirs across more than 100 countries. Wang Bao'en, Vice Minister of Water Resources, Michel Lino, President of ICOLD, Wan Jinsong, Vice Administrator of the National Energy Administration, Hu Yun, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Jiao Yong, President of the Chinese National Committee on Large Dams, attended the opening ceremony of the symposium.

The ICOLD Congress is the most professional and influential academic conference in the field of dam engineering, with the purpose of advocating for the international community to work together to strengthen multilateral cooperation, and jointly promoting "Better dams for a better world". The international symposium held that day was an important agenda of the 28th ICOLD Congress and 93rd Annual Meeting, designed to promote and achieve global exchange and cooperation in the field of dams.

During the symposium, experts and scholars from China and abroad delivered thematic speeches and shared the latest academic achievements on various topics, including precautionary management of dams and river basin under climate change, multifunctional development of dams and reservoirs, technologies for dam design and construction under complex (extreme) conditions, and digital technology applied in dams and digital river basins.

It is reported that the 28th ICOLD Congress and 93rd Annual Meeting will continue until May 23. This event will provide diverse opportunities for international cooperation in the field of dam engineering, promote international technical cooperation in reservoir and dam construction to a new level, and also play a critical role in promoting dam technology in the world.
