On December 3, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, met in Chengdu with representatives of the outstanding athletes and coaches, as well as medical support staff, from the province who participated in the 15th National Games. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourses on sports, take the outstanding achievements at the National Games as a new starting point, cherish the honors, strive for continuous improvement, and make further contributions to building a leading sports province.

Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, also attended the meeting.

At this National Games, the Sichuan sports delegation achieved success across multiple fronts from competitive sports and recreational sports to demonstration events, and was also honored with the Sportsmanship Award, securing a double harvest in both athletic performance and sportsmanship. During the meeting, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, Wang Xiaohui congratulated everyone on their outstanding achievements and expressed gratitude to all participating athletes, coaches, and the support personnel who worked diligently behind the scenes. He stated that the National Games are the largest and highest-level comprehensive sports event in China. This edition of the National Games was held at a crucial juncture as efforts are being made to thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, conclude the 14th Five-Year Plan, and prepare for the 15th Five-Year Plan. Furthermore, it marked the first time the Games were jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, attracting nationwide attention. General Secretary Xi Jinping's personal attendance at the opening ceremony to declare the Games open fully demonstrates the high priority the CPC Central Committee places on building China into a country strong in sports and reflects the deep concern for athletes, coaches, and all workers in the sports system. When we reflect on this edition of the National Games, the scenes of the athletes from the province showing tenacity and striving for excellence are profoundly inspiring and unforgettable. On the competition fields, everyone poured out sweat and exerted their utmost effort, challenging themselves and pushing their limits. This has fully showcased the spirited, confident, and self-reliant character of the people of Sichuan, reflected the tangible outcomes of building Sichuan into a leading sports province, and brought honor to Sichuan and added luster to their hometowns.

Wang Xiaohui emphasized that at this new starting point, the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has provided the top-level design and strategic blueprint for the next five years of development. The Recommendations adopted at the plenary session state that "recreational and competitive sports should be developed through a coordinated approach to see that we make faster progress in building China into a country strong in sports", which charts the course for our sports endeavors in the new era. Building Sichuan into a province strong in sports requires the collective efforts of all its people, and demands continued and even greater contributions from everyone in the province's sports sector. We hope everyone will carry forward the fine tradition of continuing to fight with unremitting efforts, conscientiously review the experience gained from competitions, conduct training and preparations in a scientific manner, successfully fulfill all competition-related tasks, and strive to achieve new and outstanding results on various competition stages in the future. We hope everyone will leverage their exemplary and leading roles, vigorously promote China's sporting spirit and practice the core socialist values, and drive the flourishing development of nationwide fitness initiatives, youth sports, and the sports industry through concrete actions, thereby better contributing to building Sichuan into a strong sports province.

Wang Xiaohui noted that the provincial Party committee and provincial government will, as always, attach great importance to and support the development of sports across the province. We will further improve the mechanisms for identifying, selecting, and cultivating outstanding sports talents, meticulously carry out all aspects of service and support work, and show greater concern for the physical and mental well-being of athletes and coaches, so as to create favorable conditions for everyone to train, prepare, and compete more effectively. All departments and relevant units at various levels should extensively promote and highlight the fighting spirit and dedication of the province's outstanding athletes, inspiring more athletes and coaches to achieve new accomplishments and make further contributions in building the province into a leading sports powerhouse.

Yang Xingping, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province and Head of the Sichuan Sports Delegation to the 15th National Games, presided over the meeting. He provided an overview of the province's participation in the Games and delivered a statement. Athlete and coach representatives, including Wei Tianwang, Yang Liu, Liu Yinglan, Huang Yingjun, and Yang Yi, shared their experiences and insights during the exchange session.

Provincial leaders Chen Wei and Zheng Li, leading officials from relevant provincial departments, and others attended the meeting.
