The 120,000th China-Europe Railway Express Departs from Chengdu
Updated: 2025.12.03

On November 28, a China-Europe Railway Express loaded with 55 containers departed from the Chengdu International Railway Port. This train marks the 120,000th cumulative trip of the China-Europe Railway Express. To date, the total value of goods transported by the China-Europe Railway Express has exceeded 490 billion U.S. dollars.

The train will exit China via the Alashankou Port, undergo distribution in Małaszewicze, Poland, and ultimately deliver its cargo to cities including Duisburg (Germany), Lyon (France), and Antwerp (Belgium). The train's cargo mainly consists of "Made in Sichuan" products and cross-border e-commerce goods. The "Made in Sichuan" products include local specialties, such as chili oil mianpi noodles and hotpot base, while the cross-border e-commerce shipment comprises nearly 1.1 million yuan worth of goods from the Pinduoduo cross-border e-commerce platform, including plush toys, floor mats, water meter valves, and other hardware products.

According to an official from the Administrative Committee of the Economic and Technological Development Zone of Chengdu International Railway Port, since launching its first Rongou Express train (the predecessor of the current China-Europe Railway Express service from Chengdu) in 2013, Chengdu has achieved leapfrog development in its international rail services over the past 12 years, with the China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Europe) as a flagship example. The annual number of train trips has surged from 31 in 2013 to over 5,000 in 2024, while the cumulative total has exceeded 36,000. The network now connects 132 overseas cities and over 30 domestic cities, forming a multi-dimensional and interconnected logistics service system that spans Eurasia.

This year, the China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Europe) has continuously optimized its international network layout by establishing a "2+2+N" European transport structure. This framework further strengthens two core hubs of Loze in Poland and Tilburg in the Netherlands, as well as two key nodes of Malaszewicze in Poland and Duisburg in Germany. It has successfully launched the Rongou Express return train service between Chengdu and Duisburg and added multiple new distribution points, including Barcelona and Madrid in Spain, Piacenza in Italy, Belgrade in Serbia, Antwerp in Belgium, Warsaw in Poland, Stockholm in Sweden, Lyon in France, and Mannheim in Germany, further densifying its network coverage.
