The Chengdu-Chongqing region has attracted 27,000 high-tech enterprises, with its regional collaborative innovation index rising by 82.5 percent. Jointly, the two cities have restructured 25 national key laboratories, gained approval to establish one new laboratory, and are speeding up the development of 11 mega science devices. This information was revealed at the Fourth Chengdu-Chongqing Region University Scientific and Technological Achievements Transformation Conference, held in Chengdu on December 22.

The conference unveiled multiple achievements, standards, case studies, and technological needs. Among them, the Catalogue of University Scientific and Technological Achievements in Chengdu-Chongqing Region (2025) released 281 scientific and technological achievements, covering 14 key industrial sectors, including medical and health, artificial intelligence, advanced materials, high-end energy equipment, deep and refined processing of agricultural products, new energy vehicles and power batteries, communications and quantum technology, and new energy (photovoltaics, wind power, hydrogen energy). The Specification for Enterprise Technological Innovation Management, for the first time, put forward a relatively comprehensive process for enterprise technological innovation, filling the gap in standards for enterprise technological innovation management. The Sichuan Province Typical Cases of University Achievements Transformation presented 15 exemplary cases. The Technological Needs of Enterprise Technology Centers Affiliated to NDRC in Sichuan (2025) and the Needs of the Western Transformation Center for Advanced Technological Achievements have proposed 21 and 8 technological needs, respectively, cumulatively releasing market opportunities worth over 60 million yuan.

The Sichuan High-Tech Industry Development Report (2025), a key report released at the conference, shows that in 2024, the province had 4,912 high-tech industrial enterprises above designated size, including 2,183 high-tech manufacturing enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 9.92 percent, and 2,729 high-tech service enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 86 percent. The high-tech industry achieved operating revenue of 1,752.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.70 percent. The overall development of the province's high-tech industry demonstrates a steady and progressive trajectory. From an industrial sector perspective, in the field of high-tech manufacturing, the electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry and the computer and office equipment manufacturing industry achieved operating revenue of 930.88 billion yuan, accounting for 83.77 percent of the total. These two sectors are the pillars of high-tech manufacturing. In the high-tech services sector, the information transmission, software, and information technology services industry generated operating revenue of 377.6 billion yuan, representing 58.91 percent of the total. From a regional development perspective, the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone capitalizes on its strengths in science and education resources as well as its industrial foundation. Its high-tech manufacturing sector contributes over 80 percent of the total operating revenue, and its high-tech services sector accounts for more than 90 percent, positioning it as a core growth engine driving high-quality development in western China. The southern Sichuan, northeastern Sichuan, Panxi, and northwestern Sichuan regions are developing high-tech industries in line with local conditions, demonstrating a positive trend of "common prosperity of five zones" through regional collaborative innovation.
