On November 19, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, met with Hung Hsiu-chu, former chairperson of the Chinese Kuomintang party and chair of the Taiwan-based Chinese Cyan Geese Peace Education Foundation, in Chengdu.

On behalf of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Sichuan Province, Wang Xiaohui extended a welcome to Hung Hsiu-chu and her delegation for their visit to Sichuan and participation in the 5th Cross-Strait Compatriots Exchange and Discussion Activity. He also briefly introduced Sichuan's economic and social development. He said that for a long time, chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu has adhered to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, resolutely oppose separatist activities aimed at "Taiwan independence", and actively promoted exchanges between all sectors across the Taiwan Strait, and has played an important role in promoting the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, especially in promoting cooperation between Sichuan and Taiwan in multiple fields, for which we express our deep appreciation. Sichuan and Taiwan share profound historical bonds and a promising future. In recent years, the two sides have achieved fruitful outcomes in such areas as economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, which not only reflect the same blood and common roots between compatriots across the Strait but also lay a sound foundation for both sides to continuously deepen cooperation and better advance integrated development. We will thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statements on the work related to Taiwan and the Party's overall policy for the new era on resolving the Taiwan question, consistently uphold the concept that people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits are of the same family, and take the Cross-Strait Compatriots Exchange and Discussion Activity as an opportunity to actively share new opportunities in Sichuan's modernization drive. We will vigorously promote exchanges and interactions between compatriots across the Strait, especially among the youth, continue to implement all Taiwan-benefiting policies as always, create better conditions for Taiwan compatriots to invest, work, study, live, and travel in Sichuan, cultivate common interests, foster mutual understanding and affinity, and strive to make new contributions to promoting peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and realizing national reunification.

Hung Hsiu-chu expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by Sichuan Province and for the care and support given to Taiwan compatriots and businesses operating in Sichuan. She stated that compatriots from both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the same Chinese nation, noting the profound kinship and close exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Sichuan. She expressed her willingness to actively promote further exchanges and cooperation between the two regions, working jointly toward China's reunification and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Chen Wei, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, heads of relevant departments and bureaus of the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee, and leading officials from relevant provincial departments attended the meeting.
