On November 10, the main girder of the Tuojiang River Grand Bridge - a control project along the middle line of the Chengdu-Chongqing High-speed Railway - achieved closure following a three-hour operation with twelve 600-ton continuous jacks. The middle line of the Chengdu-Chongqing High-speed Railway is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2027, with a maximum operating speed expected to reach 400 km/h. Upon commissioning, travel time between Chengdu and Chongqing will be reduced to 50 minutes.
The Tuojiang River Grand Bridge is located in Shizhong Town, Jianyang City, Chengdu, with a total length of 1,252 meters. The project features an innovative swallow-style double-row support thrustless arch bridge system. Based on this structural framework, engineers have conducted in-depth research and developed a composite arch bridge design that spans the Tuojiang River like a giant bow, forming a thrustless self-balanced and stable structure. During construction, the building team employed virtual assembly technology to conduct repeated simulation drills, ensuring precise closure of the bridge.
Following the bridge closure, construction will transition to deck and ancillary facilities, with track-laying scheduled to commence in May next year. The Chengdu-Chongqing High-speed Railway middle line project is currently progressing smoothly. Among them, the key control projects of "Two Tunnels and One Bridge", including the Tuojiang River Grand Bridge, are advancing according to construction schedules.
The Chengdu-Chongqing High-speed Railway middle line is an important part of the high-speed rail corridor along the Yangtze River in the nation's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" rail network. Stretching 292 kilometers along its main line, the route originates at Chongqingbei Railway Station in the Chongqing High-Speed Railway Terminal, traverses westward through multiple areas in Chongqing and Sichuan, and connects to Chengdu Railway Station in the Chengdu High-Speed Railway Terminal.
