On February 5, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, chaired the 24th Executive Meeting of the People's Government of Sichuan Province to study and plan the ecological and environmental protection as well as other matters.

At the meeting, attendees heard a report on relevant details of the Conference on Ecological and Environmental Protection organized by the CPC Central Committee. They also watched a warning video concerning the ecological environment. It was pointed out that the shocking and thought-provoking negative cases pertaining to Sichuan's ecological environment revealed in the warning video exposed the fact that some localities have not fully implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions. There are still loopholes in regulatory enforcement. All relevant localities must resolutely implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest instructions, and shoulder the primary responsibility. Heads of Party committees and governments shall personally study and promote the work, ensuring that problems are thoroughly rectified with the highest stance, the most resolute attitude, and the strongest measures. Efforts should be made to strictly and promptly investigate responsibilities to make the relevant personnel who act recklessly and irresponsibly bear the consequences, thus establishing a powerful deterrent. The Department of Ecology and Environment of Sichuan Province should carry out thorough investigations and rectification of related and derivative problems, crack down on illegal pollution discharges, data fraud, and other misconduct, promote the resolution of common problems by drawing lessons from specific cases, resolutely curb the blind development of energy-intensive projects with high emissions and backward production capacity, and firmly safeguard the red line of ecological protection. All departments at different levels must resolutely shoulder upstream responsibilities, adhere to the policy of well-coordinated environmental protection instead of excessive development, construct the Giant Panda National Park with high quality, accelerate the building of the Ruo'ergai National Park, establish a strong ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, continuously improve the ecological environment quality in Sichuan, and strive to present a satisfactory outcome to the Party and the people.

The meeting was briefed on the spirit of the National Conference of Director Generals of Public Security Departments. It was stressed that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is a key year to achieve the goals and tasks set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan. Maintaining political security, social stability, and people's peace is of utmost importance. Sichuan's public security system should thoroughly study and practice the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on political and legal work, prioritize the Party's political building with unwavering determination, make every effort to maintain a safe and stable social environment, fulfill responsibilities in serving and guaranteeing high-quality development, persevere in forging an excellent public security team, and resolutely protect the happiness and peace of the people.

The meeting deliberated and approved the Construction Plan for the Greater Jiuzhai Demonstration Zone to Promote the Integration Development of Transportation and Tourism.
Other matters were also discussed at the meeting.
