On January 4, the first workday after the New Year holiday, major projects of Sichuan Province in the first quarter commenced concentratedly. Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, announced the project commencement, and Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, made a speech.
    The main venue of the event lied in the construction site of BOE Vehicle-mounted Display Base in Chengdu Hi-tech West Zone. Before the commencement, Peng Qinghua and Huang Qiang were briefed on the investment, operation and major project construction in Sichuan and its Chengdu, as well as information of projects to be started concentratedly. Peng pointed out that project investment is an essential driving force for economic growth. In recent years, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee has firmly followed Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implemented the major principles and policies as well as decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, always taken project construction and investment promotion as the top priority of economic work, steadily increased investment, comprehensively improved investment quality and effectiveness, and effectively facilitated the sustainable and healthy economic and social development in the whole province. As the new year has begun, Sichuan is motivated to fully build a modern socialist province. All departments in the province should carefully study the new year greetings extended by General Secretary Xi Jinping. On the way forward into a new development stage, they should implement the new development philosophy and create a new development dynamic. Based on this requirement, they must put more effort into project investment and constantly consolidate and enhance the sound development momentum of the province with new achievements in this key field. In project construction, all departments should speed up and contend for the first place from the start, promote early commencement of well-prepared projects, and expedite the process and increase the number of projects under construction. It is a must to strengthen support from all respects, offer satisfying services and jointly advance the completion of more projects, in a bid to welcome a good start and prepare for the Party's 20th National Congress and the 12th Sichuan Provincial Party Congress.
    In his speech, Huang Qiang said that this event is a specific action to implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Sichuan Province. Sichuan will fully leverage the demonstration and leading roles of major projects to keep economic growth and employment stable, stimulate the development and improve people's livelihood. All construction units and departments at all localities in the province must deeply implement the principles of the central and provincial economic work conferences, pick up pace to overcome difficulties in project construction, and make every effort to promote the early completion, early operation and early achievements of the projects. All departments should seize the window period of policies, accurately grasp national policy orientation and investment fields, strive for more projects into the national overall planning, and exploit potentialities, find new opportunities and store energy in transportation, energy, water conservancy and other areas. It is necessary to focus on the advancement of 700 major projects in Sichuan, especially the 100 ones at the provincial level, make a targeted scheme and set up a team for each project, and promote early commencement of well-prepared projects to make real progress as soon as possible. The departments must carefully implement the policy of tax and fee cuts, improve project approval efficiency, facilitate effective investment of more social capital, and provide good conditions for the orderly progress of the projects. They need to make unremitting efforts to successfully complete the annual economic and social development goals and tasks. To be specific, they should maintain regular targeted pandemic prevention and control in a strict and meticulous manner, make the smallest units assume the responsibility for safety in production, implement "six hundred-percent" requirements at construction sites, and ensure strict quality control.
    Li Yunze, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, presided over the commencement ceremony and introduced relevant projects. Heads from Chengdu, Neijiang, Guang'an, Dazhou and Meishan respectively introduced their local major projects that concentratedly commenced this time at the main venue or via video link.
    At about 10:45 a.m., Peng Qinghua announced the concentrated commencement of the province's major projects in the first quarter of 2022. Among them, there were 100 projects with an investment of more than one billion yuan and the total investment reached 232.2 billion yuan, involving such fields as infrastructure, modern industries, people's livelihood and social undertakings.
    Parallel sessions were held in 20 cities (prefectures) of the province. Other participants included provincial officials Shi Xiaolin, Wang Yihong, Peng Lin and Qumu Shihao, as well as heads of relevant provincial departments.
