On July 26, the second phase of the containment of serious infectious diseases like AIDS in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture was launched in Xichang. The requirements of "expanding coverage" and "increasing diseases involved" were put forward, that is, expanding the scope of implementation from the four counties in the first phase to all counties (city-level counties) in Liangshan, and adding hepatitis C, tuberculosis, and syphilis to the list of diseases to prevent, with emphasis placed on the containment of AIDS.

　　In September 2017, the former National Health and Family Planning Commission and the People's Government of Sichuan Province jointly launched the first phase of AIDS containment and poverty alleviation through health promotion in Liangshan, focusing on the preventive intervention, antiviral treatment, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission. As a result, achievements of "three rises and three drops" have been made, that is, rises of antiviral treatment coverage, success rate of antiviral treatment, and detection rate of infections, and drops of the newly reported infections, mother-to-child transmission rate, and transmission rate between HIV sero-discordant couples.

　　At the summary meeting for the phase I of AIDS containment and poverty alleviation through health promotion and the kick-off meeting of the phase II of the containment of serious infectious diseases like AIDS in Liangshan, the National Health Commission, the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, and the People's Government of Sichuan Province decided to start the second phase of actions (2021-2025).

　　Wang Hesheng, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission and Director of the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, and Yang Xingping, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. In addition, a signing ceremony was held for the counterpart technical support.
