On June 3, 2021, the 9th China Internet Audio & Video Convention was held in Chengdu. Nie Chenxi, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Head of China's National Radio and Television Administration, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, also gave a speech.

　　The event was jointly sponsored by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and the National Radio and Television Administration under the theme of "Forge Ahead for a New Journey of Audio & Video". They aimed to discuss the methods and paths for the sustainable and healthy development of internet audio and video under the new situation. The opening ceremony started with a special event on internet audio & video industry celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party.

　　In his keynote speech, Nie Chenxi said that this convention was held under the strong atmosphere of a Party-wide and nationwide campaign on the CPC history learning and education and a celebration for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party. We should study the long history of the Party in depth and consciously follow Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Through the CPC history learning, we should become more reasonable, confident and virtuous and do practical work. Besides, we must forge ahead with determination to make new advances on the "Long March" of the new era.

　　Nie Chenxi stressed that the internet audio & video industry should look back to the century-old Party history, maintain the political defining feature, carry forward the traditions from revolutionary times, enhance historical resolve and stabilize the development orientation of the industry. The industry must keep in mind the vision of "Two Development Strategies" and focus on the country's top priorities. It should pass on positive energy and firmly keep to the correct political direction, public opinion direction and value orientation. It must also ensure the preservation and development of the existing elements and continuously enhance the industry's driving forces. All relevant parties of the industry should pay special attention to major junctures and unite to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and publicize Party history learning and education. Following the theme of "grand ceremony for the Party, important festival for the people", the industry should focus on major works and the demands of adolescents and eulogize the Party about its greatness and glory through colorful publicity activities. In addition, the industry must shoulder its historical mission and make great strides based on the new development stage. It should make great effort to strengthen the mainstream ideology and public opinion, create more high-quality contents, advance economic and social development, build a clear cyberspace, and firmly strive for quality development of the industry.

　　On behalf of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Sichuan Province, Huang Qiang congratulated the successful holding of the convention and welcomed and thanked the guests present. He said that China Internet Audio & Video Convention, which has been held for eight consecutive sessions in Sichuan, has become the largest and highest-standard national video and audio event in China. With the focus on the development trend of the industry and the exhibition of innovative development achievements, this session aimed to present a gift to the Party for its 100th birthday. Over the past 100 years, the Chinese nation witnessed the greatest achievements in its 5,000-year history. Sichuan is a land of revolutions, national strategies and high-quality development. The construction of national projects like Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is opening Sichuan up like never before. China's radio and TV industry was born in an era of revolutionary wars while the internet audio & video industry developed rapidly in the era of digital economy. Carrying forward the traditions from revolutionary times, they are an important part of the cause of the Party and people. Sichuan is a strong province in terms of the internet audio & video industry. In recent years, it has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourses on building China into a power in internet and digital technologies. The province has also strengthened the ministry-province cooperation and the content supply, preservation and development, erected national bases, created choice products and built smart radio and TV platforms, so as to keep pursuing quality development of the internet audio & video industry. Sichuan sincerely requests continued care and guidance from the National Radio and Television Administration and cordially invites friends from all circles to jointly write a new chapter for the audio & video industry and create a better world of the industry.

　　Before the opening ceremony, Nie Chenxi, Huang Qiang and other officials visited an exhibition on internet audio & video industry celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party.

　　Attendees of the convention included Gao Jianmin, Deputy Director of the National Radio and Television Administration, Gan Lin, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and Luo Qiang, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province. Wang Fengchao, Mayor of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, addressed the convention. Other attendees of the convention included heads from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission as well as the radio and TV bureaus, internet audio & video associations and major internet audio & video platforms in all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
