June 1 witnessed a video conference on summary and evaluation of the "Emergency Mission-2021" earthquake relief drill. The main venues lie in the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China and the Department of Emergency Management of Sichuan Province. Huang Ming, Deputy Commander of the State Council's earthquake relief headquarters and Minister of Emergency Management, and Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province attended and addressed the conference.

　　On behalf of the State Council's earthquake relief headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management, Huang Ming expressed his gratitude to the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, the Joint Staff Department at the Central Military Commission, the Western Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and other participating units. Huang Ming said that the "Emergency Mission-2021" earthquake relief drill is a large-scale national military exercise in real conditions and it was a great success with the joint efforts of all departments. However, the exercise also revealed some problems. All relevant departments must thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions to raise the political stance, effectively improve the sense of urgency and responsibility and carefully implement various measures to fight major disasters including earthquakes. The lack of vigilance must be avoided and adequate preparations must be made in terms of emergency disposal schemes, personnel, communications and supplies. All relevant departments should consolidate the primary-level foundation, improve earthquake resistance, raise seismic fortification standards, solidly advance seismic reinforcement, strengthen monitoring and early warning, and vigorously enhance the public's ability to rescue themselves in case of danger. They should make good use of the results of the drill and form a normal drill working mechanism. Besides, they must carry out careful evaluation and rectification, improve relevant systems and norms and form a normal mechanism, so as to improve the level of earthquake relief.

He said that the "Emergency Mission-2021" earthquake relief drill is characterized by a large scale, comprehensive contents and good effects so that it will surely enhance the country's response capacity to major disasters including earthquakes. Sichuan will always remember the entrustment of General Secretary Xi Jinping and firmly put people and life first. The province will fully implement the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, always stand by to guard the people, prevent and resolve major safety risks, effectively deal with various disasters and accidents, and firmly hold the bottom line of safe development. It will effectively enhance the practical capability of emergency response and keep in mind the care and support of the Ministry of Emergency Management. Sichuan is going to benchmark against the requirements of the CPC Central Committee to strengthen transformation and application of the drill's results, intensify emergency exercises in real conditions, perfect the interconnection and coordination mechanism, comprehensively eliminate risks and hidden dangers, and speed up improving weak links. The province is slated to advance development led by planning and supported by technologies, consolidate the primary foundation, and build a powerful rescue force to guard the people. It will strive to stand at the forefront of modernizing the governance system and governance capacity of production safety and contribute to the building of a solid national security shield.

Speeches were delivered by relevant heads from the Department of Emergency Management of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps, Sichuan Provincial Forest Fire Corps and the evaluation team of the exercise steering group. Attendees of the conference, at the main venues or branch venues, included liaison men and relevant heads of the members of the State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters including the relevant department of Sichuan, all provincial departments (bureaus) of emergency management, earthquake bureaus and fire rescue teams, as well as relevant persons in charge of the cities (prefectures) where the seven places for the drill lie, and representatives of relevant participating departments.
