On May 24, 2021, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, met with Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita and his entourage in Chengdu.

　　Huang Qiang extended a warm welcome to Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita and his wife and briefly introduced the economic and social development in Sichuan. He said that in recent years, strategically guided by Presidents of China and Brazil, cooperation between Sichuan and Brazil had become increasingly close. The major strategy of building Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, tailored by General Secretary Xi Jinping for the Sichuan-Chongqing region, has opened up unprecedented development opportunities for Sichuan. Sichuan and Brazil complement each other in terms of tourism, industry, etc. We hope that through joint efforts in settling the Consulate General of Brazil in Sichuan, we can strengthen the cooperation between advantageous industries including the aviation industry and make the flow of people and goods more convenient and smoother. With more cooperation platforms, we can fully stimulate the market vitality and continuously extend and deepen the cooperation.

　　Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita expressed his gratitude to Governor Huang Qiang for his warm reception. He said Brazil is optimistic about the development opportunities in western China and has been following the progress of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. With a profound history, beautiful scenery and strong development momentum, Sichuan hopes to jointly discover the potential for cooperation so as to enhance the level of aviation cooperation and facilitate people-to-people exchanges. In addition, the province aims to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the medical field like anti-epidemic and in various aspects such as economic trade, sci-tech innovation, culture and education, so that both sides can strive to achieve more cooperation results.
