On the afternoon of December 29, Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, visited the expansion area of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and Tianfu Art Park. He stressed the need to firmly follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly implement the people-centered development thought, take the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle as a strategic guide, make solid progress in the construction of the park city demonstration area with the new development concept, move faster to create a high-quality livable place, and continue to meet people's needs for a better life.

　　Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a prestigious name card of the city, and also an important part of Chengdu Ring Ecological Park. In September 2019, the base started the construction of the expansion project, which will soon be completed and put into use. The expansion and renovation will significantly improve the giant panda activity space, tourist reception capacity, sightseeing experience, landscape quality, service facilities and research conditions, and provide important support to the brand effect of "Sanxingdui, Jiuzhaigou and Giant Pandas" in Sichuan. Peng listened carefully to the report on the construction of the expansion project and the preparatory work of opening the expansion area in the West Gate Square of the base, climbed the giant panda tower in the shape of a spring bamboo shoot to have a panoramic view of the base, walked into the expanded living units of giant pandas and other animals, carefully inspected the indoor venues and outdoor playgrounds, and inquired in detail about giant panda breeding, scientific research and public outreach. He said the base bears special missions to conserve the "national treasure", carry out public outreach, promote panda culture and facilitate friendly exchanges. It should take the opportunity of the completion and operation of the expansion area to further strengthen scientific research and talent support, do a good job in the breeding, cub care and reintroduction of giant pandas, enrich the "panda plus" culture and tourism form, tell stories about giant pandas well, and continuously enhance the international influence and reputation of giant pandas as a super IP. Peng added that as the Giant Panda National Park is the habitat and shelter of wild giant pandas, Chengdu should work together with relevant parties to do a good job in constructing the Chengdu area of the Giant Panda National Park, intensify efforts to conserve and restore the habitat, and continuously consolidate the ecological base of the park city. Learning that the expansion area of the base will be open for trial operation on New Year's Day, Peng repeatedly urged the base to meticulously implement regular epidemic countermeasures, so as to ensure that tourists can feel at ease and enjoy themselves.

　　Subsequently, Peng visited the just opened Tianfu Art Park, a new internet-famous destination that has attracted a large number of visitors, where he investigated and learned about the planning, construction and operation of the park, building cultural landmarks, staging public-interest art activities, and enhancing urban cultural value. In the Shuyuan area of the park, he inspected and learned about the planning and construction of Sichuan Opera Art Museum and other projects. At the Contemporary Art Museum and Tianfu Art Museum in the Jinyuan area of the park, he inquired in detail about the progress of the public-interest art activities, and visited the relevant exhibitions. Peng said that the city is of the people, and we should earnestly practice the idea of people-centered development, take the initiative to ask the people for their needs and advice, and provide more diversified public cultural services to better meet the people's needs for spiritual and cultural life. On the outdoor platform of the park planning hall, Peng carefully inspected the overall layout of the park and affirmed the planning and design concept of integrating culture, industry and space with art as the soul and commerce as the shape. He added that in order to build a park city demonstration zone based on the new development concept, Chengdu should integrate history and culture, tradition and modernity, as well as nature and the city, highlight ecological value to build a green space system, and comprehensively improve the quality of urban functions of being suitable for working, business, living and tourism, so that the park city features a beautiful appearance, as well as a down-to-earth and happy touch.
