On the morning of December 27, the regulatory bodies (the Party working committee, the management committee, the discipline working committee, and the supervision office) were unveiled for Sichuan-Chongqing Gaozhu New Area, jointly built by Guang'an City, Sichuan and Yubei District, Chongqing, which is the only cross-provincial new area put into operation in China. It marks their official operation after a year of preparation. The regulatory bodies, composed of members transferred from the two places, will shoulder the mission of promoting the development and construction of the new area.

　　On that day, the new area intensively signed 28 projects, including 23 industrial ones and 5 area development ones, in more than 10 fields, such as scientific and technological innovation, intelligent manufacturing, next-generation electronic information, new energy vehicles, advanced materials, vocational education, culture, tourism and healthcare, as well as area development. The concentrated groundbreaking ceremony was held for 19 projects with a total investment of 7 billion yuan, including 14 industrial ones with an agreed investment of 4.4 billion yuan.

　　On December 29, 2020, Sichuan-Chongqing Gaozhu New Area was established after the joint approval of the People's Government of Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipal People's Government. The total planned area of 262 square kilometers covers some administrative areas of Linshui County of Guang'an and Yubei District of Chongqing. The new area has attracted much attention because it is endowed with the great mission of exploring reform to appropriately separate economic zones from administrative regions.

　　Over the past year, Guang'an City and Yubei District, in the principle of "sharing costs and benefits", has made it clear that the stock belongs to the original administrative regions, and the increment will be shared 50/50, and jointly provided people, money and land to set up the operation management structure. Good news on construction and development keep pouring in: Sichuan and Chongqing will introduce 28 policies and measures to support the reform, innovation and development of the new area; the construction of 17 major projects, including the northern extension of Chongqing South-North Avenue, has been commenced, the contracts have been signed for 29 projects, including Gaozhu Campus of Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College, and available financing loans of 3.36 billion yuan have been taken out from 23 banking and financial institutions; the first cross-provincial tax collection and management service center in China has been established to realize integrated tax handling, power supply and water supply in the new area.
