On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of
the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, Xi Jinping, General Secretary
of the CPC Central Committee, State President and chairman of the Central
military Commission, recently wrote back to all comrades of Sichuan Provincial
Disabled Veterans’ Rest Home and extended sincere greetings to them.
In his reply, Xi Jinping said that in the
War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV)
carried forward the great spirits of patriotism and revolutionary heroism,
moved forward bravely, and fought bloody battles, making important
contributions to safeguarding the country. The Party and the people will never
forget the achievements of the CPV soldiers and heroes.
Xi Jinping pointed out that for more than
60 years, you have persisted in loving the Party, trusting the Party and
following the Party, actively participating in patriotic education and national
defense education activities, and continuing to contribute your share to the Party
and the people, which shows your spirit of never changing your original
intention and never stopping working hard.
Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese nation
is a nation of heroes, and that the new era is an era that makes heroes. The
whole party and the whole society should admire heroes, learn from heroes, care
for heroes, and vigorously carry forward the spirit of heroes to pool huge
power for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Sichuan Provincial Disabled Veterans’ Rest
Home was founded in 1951, and has served more than 2,800 disabled soldiers,
including about 2,200 soldiers who participated in the War to Resist US
Aggression and Aid Korea. For more than 60 years, the disabled veterans of the
rest home have overcome difficulties unimaginable to ordinary people, and made
contributions to the construction of the motherland as far as they can, giving
nearly 10,000 lectures on traditional education to more than 3 million person
times, and receiving positive social response. In 2019, the rest home was
recognized as a "National Model Unit of Veterans". Recently, Tu Boyi,
a CPV veteran of the rest home, wrote to President Xi Jinping on behalf of all
disabled soldiers to report on their work and life and express their determination
not to forget their original ideals and aspirations, their mission or their
true character, and to continuously contribute to the great rejuvenation of the
Chinese nation.
