Sichuan Realized RMB 548.93 Billion of Total Import and Export Value of Goods in the First 10 Months

  On November 13, Chengdu Customs released the foreign trade data of Sichuan Province in the past 10 months: The total value of import and export of goods was RMB 548.93 billion, up 14.8% year-on-year, higher than the overall import and export growth range of 2.4% in the same period.  Of these, exports totaled RMB 315.38 billion, up 19.3% year-on-year; imports totaled RMB 233.55 billion, up 9.2% year-on-year.

  Statistics from the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province show that in the past 10 months, Sichuan's foreign trade ranked the best in history nationwide, with its export volume ranking 8th, import-export volume and import volume ranking 10th nationwide, and its import and export growth rate ranking first among the top 10 provinces and cities in China.

  In the past 10 months, the United States, ASEAN, the European Union, Japan and China's Taiwan Region were the top five trading partners of Sichuan Province. Among them, imports and exports to ASEAN were RMB 108.21 billion, up 20% year-on-year; imports and exports to the EU totaled RMB 105.81 billion, up 34.9% year-on-year; imports and exports to China's Taiwan Region were RMB 34.6 billion, up 41.9% year-on-year; imports and exports to Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries and regions were RMB 156.95 billion, up 17% year-on-year, accounting for 28.6%. Among them, exports to Cambodia, Kuwait, Iraq, Sri Lanka, and Timor-Leste increased 2.3 times, 2.1 times, 1.9 times, 1.5 times and 1.3 times year-on-year respectively.

  Regionally, Chengdu continues to lead, with some cities (prefectures) growing rapidly. In the past 10 months, Chengdu has realized an import and export value of RMB 473.61 billion, up 18.9% year-on-year, accounting for 86.3%; the import and export growth rate of some cities (prefectures) in eastern Sichuan was significantly ahead of the average level in the whole province, with Nanchong increasing 4 times year-on-year, Dazhou increasing 2.3 times year-on-year, Suining increasing 52.6% year-on-year, and Bazhong increasing 45% year-on-year.

  In terms of products, exports are dominated by mechanical and electrical products, while imports of agricultural products have increased. In the past 10 months, Sichuan exported RMB 257.3 billion worth of mechanical and electrical products, up 20.8% year-on-year, accounting for 81.6% of the province's foreign trade exports during the same period; exports of cultural products totaled RMB 7.43 billion, up 34.5% year-on-year; imported agricultural products totaled RMB 4.61 billion, up 15% year-on-year.
