Biography

　　Wei Hong, male, Han nationality, born in Yinan, Shandong Province in May 1954. Mr. Wei started his career in Nov. 1970 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Jun. 1973. He graduated from Sichuan Provincial Party Committee Party School with a master’s degree in economics.

　　Mr. Wei once held positions such as platoon leader, vice political instructor, and political department officer of Railway Corps College. In 1983, he started working in Personnel Bureau of Yongchuan Prefecture (later Yongchuan County), Sichuan. From 1986, he served successively as officer, deputy director and deputy secretary general of Sichuan provincial Party committee organization department. In Mar. 1995, he was appointed as secretary general of Organization Department of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and vice minister of the department in Jan. 1997. From Aug. 2000, Mr. Wei took up the post as secretary of Ya’an Municipal Party Committee and secretary of Municipal Party Committee in Dec. 2000. In Aug. 2002, he was appointed as vice minister of Organization Department of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee again and became minister of the department in Sept. 2002. From Dec. 2002, Mr. Wei took office as member of the standing committee of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and minister of Organization Department of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee as well. He started to act as member of the standing committee of Sichuan provincial Party committee and executive vice governor of Sichuan in May 2007 (he also held a concurrent post as dean of Sichuan Administration Institute from Sept. 2007).  In Dec. 2012, Mr. Wei was appointed as deputy secretary of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Sichuan executive vice governor. In Jan. 2013, he was appointed as deputy secretary of Sichuan provincial Party committee and acting governor and then governor of Sichuan provincial government. He graduated from Department of Political Science of Changsha Railway Corps College and later Department of Economics of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics as a postgraduate. Mr. Wei is a deputy to the 16th and 17th National Congress of Communist Party of China, the 11th National People’s Congress as well as the 10th, 11th and 12th Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress.

　　Taking charge of the comprehensive work of Sichuan Provincial People's Government and  responsible for the work of auditing.
