On April 16, the award ceremony for Sichuan Provincial Beautiful Countryside Ecological and Environmental Protection Advocates and concurrently the launch ceremony of Sichuan's 2024 rural ecological and environmental protection publicity and promotion events were held in Hailong Village, Changli Town, Anju District, Suining City. As the first prizewinner of the province-wide Beautiful Countryside Ecological and Environmental Protection Advocates campaign, Wu Chunhua, the first secretary of Hailong Village, took to the stage to accept the award.
"Green" is the foundation and defining feature of rural revitalization. At the event, Wu Chunhua, as a representative award winner of the Beautiful Countryside Ecological and Environmental Protection Advocates, shared the story of "Ecological Hailong," which outlined a microcosm of the Beautiful Countryside initiatives and set a model for further enhancing public communication on environmental protection in rural areas.
In May 2023, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, in conjunction with the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Provincial Bureau of Radio and Television, launched the Beautiful Countryside Ecological and Environmental Protection Advocates campaign. Since its inception, the campaign has received 107 promotional videos. After a thorough process involving two rounds of expert assessment and the incorporation of online voting results, the campaign has recognized two first-place winners, three second-place winners, five third-place winners, ten exceptional award recipients, and ten exceptional organizational units.
The winners include Party branch secretaries of villages, first secretaries, agricultural technicians, or entrepreneurs in agri-business, and they all convey the same narrative: "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." Through their compelling narratives, a wider audience is gaining insight into the stories of ecological and environmental protection in Sichuan's beautiful rural areas.
In the upcoming 2024 rural environmental protection promotion event, they will team up with eco-environ advocates across the province to publicize and promote eco-environmental protection knowledge within their respective regions.
As a province with a large population and abundant ecological resources, Sichuan boasts expansive rural areas and a substantial agricultural community. Engaging the officials, staff and residents in rural areas, enhancing the aesthetics of urban and rural living environments, and harnessing the province's distinctive ecological resources are all fundamental issues that contribute to the advancement of ecological civilization in Sichuan's rural regions.
In response to this, Sichuan has taken the lead nationwide in exploring the popularization and promotion of eco-environmental protection concepts among rural residents. Through public communication activities on beautiful countryside ecological and environmental protection, by utilizing the daily experiences, average individuals, and straightforward logic of the general public, the "seeds of green" are being spread across the extensive farmlands and rural regions. To date, the province has conducted over 500 offline activities in rural areas, reaching more than two million rural residents.
Strengthening the protection of the rural ecological environment and building a beautiful countryside requires the collective efforts of the entire society. Moving forward, Sichuan is committed to thoroughly studying and applying the experience of the Green Rural Revival Program, actively advancing the construction of a beautiful and harmonious countryside that is desirable to live and work in, thereby laying a robust foundation for creating a more beautiful Sichuan.
