So far, Sichuan Province has completed a special investigation of rural toilet revolution, and is now accelerating rectification according to the recent news from Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

　　In 2018, our province comprehensively launched a living environment improvement campaign as “the first battle" of rural revitalization. Rural toilet revolution was one of the priorities. According to statistics, from 2018 to 2020, the province newly built/rebuilt 17,946 public toilets and 2.172 million rural household toilets; the rate of penetration of rural health toilets reaches 85%; the provincial toilets basically reach the targets of "scientific layout, sufficient quantity, uniform signs, civilized and sanitary, normative management, and use for free", but there are still short slabs such as non-standard design and construction of old toilets, and low management level.

　　At the beginning of this year, our province began to investigate completed rural toilets one by one. In view of the problems found in the investigation, our province requires all localities to "identify the root causes, clarify the responsibilities, clarify the time limit, and conduct classified rectification", prepare synchronous rectification schemes for different sorts, reverse the schedule, and take "spot kick" approach to carry out rectification. In particular, reinspection, secrete inquiries, spot inspection, third-party inspection as well as public satisfaction surveys shall be taken in the process of rectification to ensure the quality of rectification.

　　In order to avoid more problems in rural toilet revolution, our province has required all localities to make clear in advance "correct or not, how to correct, what’s the target, and how to manage". "One-size-fits-all approach" and “compulsory execution” are forbidden. At the same time, we encourage project-based standardized construction to ensure that rural household toilets meet the standards.
