On March 18, Yao Sidan, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, chaired a meeting where he assigned key tasks for seed industry development. Aiming to make a turnaround in spurring Sichuan's seed industry, Yao insisted on following the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions on "achieving a turnaround in the seed industry", and the instructions of Secretary Peng Qinghua during his visit to provincial scientific research institutes.

　　Yao emphasized that Sichuan is a powerhouse of seed industry, one of the three major seed production and breeding bases in the country. Based on the whole spectrum, all relevant departments should thoroughly implement the decisions of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and the People's Government of Sichuan Province. They should also cooperatively plan and build a seed industry landscape of "1 + 1 + N" , that is, one national Tianfu modern seed industry park, one Nanfan seed breeding research base, and some provincial modern seed industry parks of special industries, thereby advancing Sichuan's transition from a major agricultural province to a strong one.

　　Yao emphasized the need to strengthen the guiding role of planning, and study and formulate policies and measures for the construction of the modern agricultural industrial system of "10+3", making a turnaround in fueling Sichuan's seed industry. To enhance Sichuan's efforts to the construction of the Nanfan Agricultural Silicon Valley, we should, in line with the requirements of the "five unities", accelerate the construction of the Nanfan seed breeding research base through a sound coordination system and centralized superiority resources, thus enhancing the competitiveness of the seed industry. Yao also highlighted the need to ensure that responsibilities are fulfilled at all levels of departments, clarify the key tasks and targets, and ensure the effective implementation of all tasks.
