According to the requirements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and unified plans of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Acting Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, went to Chengdu to supervise the Democratic Life Meeting of the Standing Committee of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee on January 20. He emphasized that it's necessary to work under the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, study and exercise instructions from General Secretary Xi Jinping on the development of Sichuan and Chengdu, unswervingly put into action the new concept for development, practically do more to build the Standing Committee of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, and precisely act upon decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee.

　　Before the meeting, Huang Qiang reviewed the self-criticism reports of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and its members. At the meeting, reports were published to explain the implementation of rectification measures proposed at democratic life meetings with such special themes as "staying true to the Party's original aspiration and founding mission"; made clear opinions and suggestions solicited from the Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and its members this year. Fan Ruiping, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, made a comparative review on behalf of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and became the first to deliver his own comparative review; other members made comparative reviews and criticized each other in turn.

　　After that, Huang Qiang delivered a speech. He praised that relevant units had made adequate preparations for this democratic life meeting, which was highly theme-based and problem-oriented. Issues were concrete, criticism was frank, and rectification measures were specific. In brief, the meeting was of high quality with satisfying results. He encouraged that after the meeting, the Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and its members should make good use of criticism/self-criticism, a "magic weapon" of the Party, to perfect the comparative review reports and make practical efforts to rectify relevant problems.

　　Huang Qiang underlined that the democratic life meeting was a great opportunity to further improve the Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and its members' capabilities to find and solve their problems, endeavor to make practical progress, and continuously obtain new achievements on all fronts. The Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and members should take a clear political stand; uphold Xi Jinping's core position in the CPC Central Committee and the Party; uphold absolute Party leadership over the socialist modernization; think and work to realize economic and social development from a political point of view; practically improve political judgment, perception, and execution; consistently perfect the political capability, strategic insight, and professionalism in understanding new development stages, implementing the new concept for development, and building new development paradigm. They need to integrally,correctly, andcomprehensively carry out the new concept for development in terms of the fundamental purposes, problem-solving, and awareness of unexpected developments, working for the best but preparing for the worst, being more mindful of the difficulties ahead, and paying attention to security in all fields and through the whole process of economic and social development. They should combine the regular and precise epidemic prevention and control and response to local emergencies, while preparing for dangers by making up the shortfalls, to ensure that the public can have a safe and happy Spring Festival holiday. The Standing Committee of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and members also have to strengthen eco-environment protection and pollution control, to see that people have a stronger sense of fulfillment; make full play of the city's strength in scientific education and realize technological independence and self-reliance, to contribute more to assisting the country in addressing "stranglehold problems". They should fully exercise major decisions of the CPC Central Committee and plans of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, being result- and goal-oriented, eliminating bureaucratism and formalism, putting work to practice in a"nail" spirit for achievements, and strengthening supervision and review at all levels, to make sure that the 14th Five-Year Plan period has a good start.
