By June 30, 2017, 8,963 of the 9,070 environmental problems involved in petitions handed over to Sichuan during the first round of the central ecological and environmental inspection campaign had been improved, with a completion rate of 98.8%.

　　Sichuan is the first province in China to launch the central environmental inspection campaign and "looking-back" petition overhaul. For the first round of the 2017 central environmental inspection campaign and the 2018 "looking-back" petitions handed over by the central environmental inspection group, Sichuan adheres to the seasonal scheduling, and through ranking, notification and other forms imposes pressure and hold those concerned responsible for the work they have done.

　　According to the data, by June 30, the improvement rate of all kinds of environmental problems involved in the first round of petitions handed over by the central ecological and environmental inspector group in 2017 reached 98.8%. Besides, among the 3,665 environmental problems involved in the 2018 "looking-back" petitions handed over by the central environmental inspection group, 3,569 were solved, with a completion rate of 97.4%, 1.4 percentage points higher than that in the previous quarter.

　　While ramping up the central ecological and environmental supervision and "looking-back" petition overhaul, Sichuan also attaches great importance to the timely response to new environmental protection petition. In the first half of this year, the provincial ecological and environmental protection inspection office conducted field inspections on petitions about six ingrained problems involving great contradictions and too many entanglements. The office listened to the public opinions, identify the crux of the problems and jointly discuss ways to tackle them. In order to ensure the quality of the work, it also conducted six secret inspections and more than 40 telephone return visits until the problems were addressed and the public felt satisfied.
