On October 10, Sichuan Provincial Steering Group for Pneumoconiosis Prevention and Control held a meeting to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the prevention and control of occupational diseases including pneumoconiosis and the requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council for the prevention and control of pneumoconiosis, inform the progress of pneumoconiosis prevention and control in our province, and assign the next tasks. Yin Li, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of People's Government of Sichuan Province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

　　The meeting pointed out that since last year, the province has vigorously carried out an operation to combat pneumoconiosis, and has made positive progress and results. Nevertheless, some local units do not pay enough attention to the prevention and control of pneumoconiosis, not fully implement their responsibilities, provide insufficient technical support, carry out poor supervision and lack professional personnel at the grass-roots level. Those problems must be highly valued and seriously addressed. All members of the steering group should adhere to the people-centered development thinking, always put people's life safety and physical health at the first place, strengthen a problem-orientated approach, comprehensively implement the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Pneumoconiosis, adhere to the combination of increment control and stock guarantee, do a better job in pneumoconiosis prevention and control, and resolutely win the battle against pneumoconiosis. They must perform the liability statement signed between our province and the National Health Commission, seize time to list the unfinished items one by one, find out the causes and take targeted measures, divide responsibilities and set up milestones to complete each key task as scheduled, with quality and quantity assured. It is necessary for them to strengthen assessment and evaluation, help solve the difficulties and problems encountered in local operations, and fill short slabs in time. It is necessary to conscientiously strengthen organizational leadership, fully implement the leadership responsibilities of local governments, the supervision responsibilities of functional departments and the primary responsibilities of employers, simultaneously promote key work such as occupational health, safety production and environmental protection, and strengthen coordination, collaboration and resources sharing so as to make joint efforts in pneumoconiosis prevention and control. All departments throughout the province should actively practice the idea that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, speed up the transformation of development mode, intensify the transformation and upgrading, and take a road of green and healthy development. At the same time, they should continue to carry out special operations to mining, non-ferrous metals, metallurgy, building material and other fields with a high incidence of occupational diseases and continuously improve the working conditions to prevent and control occupational diseases from the sources. It is necessary to optimize the layout of our occupational diseases prevention and control service network, strengthen follow-up investigation to pneumoconiosis patients, perfect the rules and regulations for occupational diseases prevention and control, enhance the workers' awareness of proactive protection, and continuously improve the level of prevention and control service to effectively protect the occupational health related rights and interests of workers in our province.
