On August 23, Sichuan Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Production, Marketing and Utilization Matchmaking Fair Meeting was held in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. 57 TCM enterprises and 30 TCM planting (breeding) bases showed up at the fair meeting, and set up booths to display their products. Representatives from TCM distribution firms, TCM medical institutions, TCM hospitals, and scientific research institutes were also invited to discuss development and seek cooperation under the theme of "linking the whole TCM industrial chain and building a strong province in TCM".

　　By 2018, the area of TCM materials in Sichuan Province has reached 3.49 million mu, with a comprehensive output value of RMB 73.308 billion. However, as the planting (breeding) area and the production is expanding, many TCM materials planting (breeding) enterprises are faced with a dilemma. Given that they sell the products to TCM decoction pieces enterprises, they can enjoy a stable market, but the added value is low. While if they develop health food on their own, the added value will increase at least 20%, but they will fail to find markets for the processed food. According to the head from Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, the aim of the meeting is just to remove blocks between TCM production, marketing and utilization, and build a platform for trade matchmaking and negotiation covering the whole industrial chain of TCM.

　　Through the matchmaking earlier, a number of Chinese patent medicine and Chinese herbal medicine decoction piece enterprises are expected to reach cooperation intention with TCM planting (breeding) bases, TCM medical institutions, TCM distribution firms, pharmaceutical e-commerce enterprises and scientific research institutes, and the cooperation amount is estimated to be more than RMB 30 million.
