On the morning of April 25th, Yibin City and Sichuan University signed an agreement for in-depth cooperationin Chengdu to jointly build Yibin Park of Sichuan University. Mr. Peng Qinghua, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee of the CPC, attended the signing ceremony.

　　At the signing ceremony, Mr. Liu Zhongbo, Secretary of the Yibin Municipal Party Committee, briefly introduced the agreement. Mr. Wang Jianguo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan University, delivered a speech; Mr. Du Ziping, Mayor of Yibin City, and Prof. Xu Weilin, Vice President of Sichuan University, signed the agreement for in-depth cooperation on behalf of both parties. Mr. Peng Qinghua, Mr. Wang Jianguo, and Mr. Li Yanrong, President of Sichuan University,were present at this event.

　　The signing of this agreement foruniversity-local authorities cooperation marksthedeployment ofthe strategies of “one main area and multiple auxiliaries, andcoordinated development between the five areas”, “four-direction expansion, and across-the-board opening-up” of the provincial party committee, and constitutes concrete actions taken to exploit the roles of universities in driving the economy development in Sichuan. According to the agreement, Yibin Park of Sichuan University will go for overall planning and step-by-step implementation to give full play to the advantages of Sichuan University in science and technology and human resources for coordinated management of Sichuan University Graduate School Yibin Branch, Sichuan University Yibin Industrial Technology Research Institute, Sichuan University andYibin Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions (international campus). It will set up a Wuliangyespecial fund for high-end talents. It is committed to deliver first-class Yibin-based instruction, scientific research institutes and parks for the transformation of achievementsto serve the whole province with a west-oriented perspective. It is determined to create a new paragon of university-local authorities cooperation to better serve the high quality development of local economy.
