Updated:2019.04.25

At 6 pm on the 19th, the China Railway Express from Luxembourg to Chengdu entered the Chengdu International Railway Port in a slow pace. This trainwas loaded with mechanical and electrical products, medical equipment, auto parts, electronic products, sanitary ware, clothing and other goods. After 15-day journey, it passed through Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries, and entered China viaAlashankou Port of Xinjiang. This marks that Luxembourg has become the 25th major overseas city connected by China Railway Express (Chengdu).

It is known that on April 4th, the first Luxembourg-Chengdu train of China Railway Express was officially launched at theDudelange Station of the Luxembourg National Railway Multimodal Transport Company. Luxembourg is a highly developed industrial country, with the steel industry, the financial industry and the satellite communications industry being its three pillar industries. Luxembourg is the most important private banking center in the Eurozone and the second largest investment trust center after the United States.

From the first train from Chengdu to Lodzof Poland opened on April 26th, 2013, we have straightened the land route linking Chengdu and Europe, reducing the travel time between Sichuan and Europe from more than 40 days by sea to 11 days. The change has enabled Chengdu, an inland city, to develop an open economy without reliance on the port, and to break the historical eastward trend of foreign trade. Up till now, the China Railway Express has been operated for six years.

In the past six years, China Railway Express (Chengdu) has become the most stable and efficient line in China. According to the relevant person in charge of the Management Committee of Chengdu International Railway Port, the trains have added to 1591 in 2018from 31 in 2013.The China Railway Express (Chengdu) has ranked the first in the country for three consecutive years, showing the fast growing potential of Chengdu. By the end of 2018, China Railway Express (Chengdu) had accumulated a total of 3,088 columns, connecting to 25 major cities in Europe and Asia. The domestic “Chengdu Europe +” interconnections directly covered 14 coastal and border cities, creating 7 international railway passages and five international railway-maritimeintermodal transportation corridors.Therailway-water, railway-maritime, highway-railway multimodal transportation channels have been opened in the new Silk Road Economic Belt and the Yangtze River Basin Economic Zone.
